Audio Drops. Do you see the picture change when this happens?

I see that when using one of my Sony AVRs. I don't see (the display on the Sony AVR cycles every time the audio drops) or hear the same thing on other TVs.

It is perplexing - maybe I have a bad client and its time to call DirecTV support

I was in the middle of the usual weekend crisis yesterday and didn't have time to finish that post. I think my AVR is causing the audio drops. I don't see them anywhere else. What kind of a sound system are you using?

Can you set your AVR to DD as the default instead of Automatic ? Automatic will cause it to switch any time that the signal changes, even for an instant.

I get them all of the time using wireless Genie2 and the DVR server. I googled it and another site said it happens all of the time and to turn off Dolby to see if it helps. I did and still get audio drops. It's almost like the pause button is pushed and then the picture comes back, but 3 to 5 seconds ahead of where it was.

I'm heading downstairs to do that as we speak...Don't see any way to do it. It's a Sony AVR. STR-DH800. I have no idea where I got it or how old it is. Pretty old.

    Here is the manual. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4131/41317231M.pdf

Check on page 56 and 57 to see if that is the info you need to look at / change.

I checked the AVR, the sync was set for 70ms, changed it to 0ms. I'll watch a couple hours and see what happens. Again, you never cease to amaze me...thanx.

I watched the Titans and Texans last night and didn't have one audio drop. I also watched a series on NF and had no audio drops. I think you were right. I could have searched that manual for months and wouldn't have found that answer. Thank you!

Now can you remind me how to change my signature here?

That's what I've been doing for some time now. I get to that point but can't change my equipment.

Ah, that's the place. Thanx. I could swear the first suggestion you made was what I used to do. Did this change?

I am not using an AVR - this is a direct connect to a Sonos sound bar - and I am getting random POPS not dropouts, or video freezes - just pops
