I guess the Hauppauge 1212 HD and the Slingbox 350 don't count as they just connect to the DirecTV equipment.

I said I have four devices hooked to our main televison. That is true if you accept the fact that three of those four run through our AVR. The AVR is the fourth and sole hardwired device connected to our TV.

In my den, I have a Denon AVR, DirecTV HR44, Shaw Direct PVR, C/Ku Band FTA receiver, Roku, Apple TV, and a Blu-Ray player. In my office I have a DirecTV HR21, Shaw Direct PVR, DVD Recorder, Blu-Ray, and an old JVC VCR. In my bedrooms I have HR24's and Blu-Ray, and in my kitchen just a HR24.

One per TV, which is the AVR. Other devices, including the DirecTV DVRs, connect through the AVRs.

Living Room TV (old Samsung 46" LCD HDTV) - Genie, Bluray and AppleTV (got VCR on shelf but not hooked up). My audio receiver can do video set up but have not hooked the composite video cable to it.
Bedroom's new 40" Samsung LED SmartTV - HR24 and standard DVD player (never used it anymore but it's hooked up). Ethernet cable hooked up to the TV (prefer that over wifi) for Netflix, VuDu and other Samsung apps.
Kitchen (oldest TV in the house) Polaroid 32" LCD HDTV - just HR24 (only one available HDMI input plus two available component video input and antenna input).
Other bedroom Vizio 26" LED HDTV - H25 with antenna input.
