Me and Mrs. Redsoxfan have our first child :) on the way now so we're gonna need to move to a bigger place to live soon.

Going from a one bedroom apartment to a two bedroom.

The place that we really like and are moving to next month won't allow any dishes so no DirecTV.:(

Here's hoping Fios is available or we would have to go with Cox.

Edit: Maybe I posted this in the wrong forum. If a mod needs to move it feel free.

If you have a south-west facing balcony or patio with clear Line-Of-Site, they can't legally prevent you from having a dish. Otherwise, you're stuck with a non-satellite service.

Just wanted to update everyone. The move is this Saturday and our service provider will indeed be Cox :mad:. I'm going to miss my DirecTV.

Congrats to you, your wife and Joshua at one month!
Now that you have departed the satellite world and moved to Cox, you might want to look into one of the new TiVo DVR's when they come out. I've seen a number of media reports about them.

You can receive satellite signal through a window if it is pointed the right way, but you will lose the signal due to rain fade more often.

depends on the type and quality of the glass
Leaded glass tends to block the signal
    as does Tempered Glass
