As of this afternoon, a new folder was added to my "List" of programs recorded on both my DVR's, HR24 and HR44. This folder " Recently watched On Demand" shows all your watched programs on your TV, computer, tablet and cell phone. I don't know, why or how this folder was added, as there was no software update on either one of my DVR's. Not really a problem for me, but it creates more "junk" on my list and probably will be confusing for a lot of people. Wonder why D* decided to add this now?

Go to Menu, Settings & Help, Settings, Whole Home, External Device and set Recently Watched to Hide

Thank you very much for the info on how to change the setting and hide the folder. But, that part wasn't there before, either. Just curious, as to why this feature was added.

    You are welcome.
I do not have a clue why it was done. I don't do VOD so I definitely did not want the folder and learned on here how to Hide it.

this was added so that when you watch any VOD content on your mobile devices you can finish them on your TV if the need ever arises.

Ah, thanks, all. Now hidden, and now know why it was there. Makes sense, even!

That feature has been available on the apps, where you can start on your TV and finish on the mobile apps, now it works both ways. Start on the mobile device and finish on the big screen! I think the only reason DIRECTV® gave the option to disable was for privacy reasons, knowing DIRECTV® otherwise they would have forced it to leave it there.

I am glad that they added a "disable" feature to something! Personally, I would like this folder to appear but I don't see it. I don't have a "Recently Watched" folder on my Genie and there isn't an option labeled as such to hide. Is there something online or anything that I can do? Now that I use the VOD more, it would be handy. It seems that there is content online that isn't on the TV on-demand but maybe I am wrong.

    ...- .....
This seems logical since I had to input the parental passcode to hide it.

Good question! It would be odd to see it if one weren't connected!

When i hit the recently watched on demand bar all I get is a few shows that I watched in 2014. I've watched dozens of on demand since then or maybe I'm doing it wrong. Same thing with the HR-24 and the HR-44, same shows display on both receivers.

Thank you. I'd of never thought to try that as the entire section seems to pertain only to mobile and what you can see on the mobile device not the local genie. Great that folder can be switched off.

a better feature would allow me to create folders to put all my kidts TV shows in. and label it "KIDS" or anything else i would like.

even better, I can do it online or on my phone.

Someone needs to tell that to my HR-24 since it has the recently watched bar the same as my HR-44.
