I've recently purchased a DVD recorder, on the back of my H/D T.V. there is a monitor out. I am wondering if this will allow me to record in high definition. If not is there anyway to do so?

You won't be able to do it with that.

    1) Your DVD recorder has to be able to both record and output HD material. I highly doubt it does that since there is no HD-DVD yet.
    2) If somehow it did, you'd need firewire or DVI input on your recorder as well as firewire or DVI out on your STB. Your TV monitor out port is most likely the yellow "RCA" composite jack or perhaps S-Video.
