It's been a while since I've tried watching DirecTV's Redzone Channel, since I don't pay for the Max version of Sunday Ticket, but it was available to regular Sunday Ticket subscribers this past weekend. It would be okay for watching multiple games if there isn't one particular game you want to see, but they kept switching to a multiple-game view with anywhere from two to four games on the screen at the same time. Even watching on my 75" TV, it felt like I was watching on a cell phone. It was such an unsatisfactory viewing experience that I switched back to the individual games after a while. I know a lot of people are getting the package for free, but it's hard to see why anyone would pay extra to get the Redzone Channel.

Because they don’t show commercials. Non stop football updates. I despise seeing the same 3 ads over and over again.

I like the multi game view. Feels like your in Vegas at westgate sports book.

I love DirecTV s RZC! Been watching since 06 I believe!!

Andrew Siciliano does a great job .

And as stated above love how red zone you can see non stop action compared to multiple commercial breaks. Same for Strike Zone channel or ... ESPN Goal Line!!

I agree 4 games on once screen is a bit much but still awsome

Heck I remember when strike zone channel was directv exclusive before MLB network
"superfan" . DIRECTV Strike Zone was part of superfan package.

It would be okay if they stayed full-screen, but I prefer not watching games in tiny windows. As to commercials, I use the DVR to bypass them. I queue up the games that interest me and switch games during commercial breaks. It is rare that I ever watch a commercial.

Ok so you’re recording the games on the individual channels. That works too.

I have multiple tvs going .

I also love how RZC is ahead of the other channels even OTA

I had RZC and OTA going and RZC was ahead of OTA by 3 seconds .

It has always been this way though.

Even NFL network s Red Zone does multiple games on one screen.

MLB s Strike Zone channel does same thing

I set the DVR for all games of interest to me. With two DVRs, I can record as many as 7 games at a time.. Sometimes I'm watching one game in its entirely, while other times I watch two or three games in parallel. When I'm watching multiple games, I block out the ticker at the bottom of the screen and use 30-second skip to avoid updates on other games. The 30-second skip also allows me to watch a second or third game during the commercial breaks of my main game. It works pretty well, and to me it beats watching games in tiny windows.

FYI- it wasn’t just available to ST customers last weekend, it was a free view for everyone as has happened in previous years.

I think Siciliano does a masterful job on RZ- especially after the sub we had the week before when Andrew was out. I typically only watch RZ when my home team isn’t playing at that time.

It was only available to ST subs and not available for streaming.

That’s weird. Siciliano said at the start of the broadcast it was a freeview weekend. Oh well, my bad.

I do wish they would have less dead space around the multi game shots. They could maximize the screen better. But I have no issue with the idea in general.

Speaking of RZC ... how long has it been HD only??

Had a rain fade event for like 10 min the message came up to choose in "low resolution/SD" and it was a screen with directv logo no live football. The info bar said too be announced ...

Glad it was a quick fade event and I know online is an option (if my ISP is working ... )

That's the biggest problem - the windows are a lot smaller than they need to be.

On a 75" screen the 4 box makes the screens 28".
They could do so much better.

Can you subscribe to RZC stand alone?

    Via DirecTV I don't believe so .

Via the cable cos I believe NFL Network Redzone is a la carte or part of a sports pack for around $5/monthly (may vary by provider )

Yea, they used to let me subscribe to it before AT&T bought them. Wondered if it was still possible. Guess I will find out next year.
