    What are the components needed for a DTV installation? I'm trying to resurrect the hardware on a house. It has a mounted oval slimline dish, a swim labelled 3DLNBR0-01 LNB and a deca. What is it missing to be able to feed 1 - HR24? Is a power inserter and 8 way splitter needed? Thanks..

    If the dish is still aligned properly, it should work just fine connected through a "Power Inserter" (PI) and then to the HR24.

    The DECA is only necessary to connect the receiver to a home router for internet access over the coax cable for VOD.

    Sounds like you don't currently have DIRECTV? If that is the case, I thought others have posted here DIRECTV won't let you do a self install on an initial setup.

    Thanks. If another DVR is added I will need a supported splitter with the inserter plugged into the red port? If the 2nd DVR is an old HR20 is another device needed? It seems on my last setup it needed something else plugged into Sat 1...

    What model HR20 is it?

    That is, the three digits following the dash after the "20." ....

    Ok, if you ever want to add the HR20 and "Whole Home" viewing.

    Then the HR20 will need an older style receiver DECA and be connected as in either of the two diagrams ...

    The first is the official DIRECTV approved way, and the second unofficial but does not require the additional MoCA band stop filter.[IMG][IMG]

    Thanks for your help. Where did you get those diagrams? I'll start with my HR24 & see what happens. Do I need the power inserter & splitter if just the 1 HR24? LNB directly to DVR?

    The "Goggle images" catagory after doing a search using Chrome for "HR20-100 DECA connection diagrams."

    And you may need a 2x1 splitter to connect the HR24 to a Cinema Connection Kit (CCK) for internet access if you wish for VOD and PPV.

    But if you're not interested in that then, no you don't need a splitter for only a single receiver.

    Just Dish --->PI--->HR24

    Or if the HR24 is near an ethernet access port, you can connect the receiver to the internet by ethernet cable.
