For nonretailers, if you wanna see a retailer chat, go to Sears and casually turn the demo 301 or 501 on to whatever channel the retailer chat is on. Once when I went to sears they had the showroom promotion channel on and there was a red slate saying Retailer Chat Rebroadcast in a few minutes, just as the chart started to begin my mom made me leave as were were running late for my eye exam

As I said some dealers won't see the chat for a few days, and I for one would like to know what the h--- the customer is talking about when they start asking questions. BTW, I am FAR from being pro E* as my old user name should prove (Unhappy DISH dealer). Scott, I think you should talk to Metro about your statement. If he has no problem with you talking about what you see over at his site, more power to you.

kck this has nothing to do with Metros site, I have been watching dealer chats for over a year.

jrjcd is one of the admin there and he just posted the above recap for us. :)

I personally could care less what a dealer is getting paid or what they are paying for equipment. The only thing I report on are things such as technology news, new channels, and software updates. Of course some things that were not supposed to be advertised such as the 6 month free Cinemax deal I kept quiet out of respect to the dealers out there who were using this to "seal the deal" :D

Well, being a retailer, it would be of GREAT CONCERN for MOST consumers that are NOT in the Dish hobby to view the retailer chat because they would see the commissions and certain info that were not meant for consumers to be heard and they will spread the word of the commissions and [try to talk] the retailers [down] when it comes to sales such as 'you get x for this and x for that you can get me a better deal' and I know how customers are, if they know you are making a lot, they will [try to talk you down] you every way they can, and they dont want you to make very much.

Now if it is for a hobby I dont see the harm in it if it is a real devoted hobbiest. What a lot of customers dont realize is the cost of business and risk in those profits.

er, jacob-MOST of the promos are either free or top out at $49....how can anyone [talk] down the price on free???? the new promo requires an out right purchase, but the programming credits put that money back in the consumer's pocket over twelve months...and if someone DOESN'T like the price you sell it at, then you show him the door and sell to the next customer-NO ONE is forced to sell to ANYONE they don't want to...

For Sprint PCS, Radio Shack is a great deal. I got my first Sprint PCS phone at Radio Shack. They had this increadible deal in August of 2000. If you got a phone at Radio Shack and made a new activationon, you got the 500 anytime minutes plan for $45/month. I know have 500 anytime/1500 nights and weekends starting at 8pm. I have tyet to see a better deal.

kck, you get more mileage out of sites like these that put out info from a reatiler chat THAN any other method! Especially for selling a company like E* that is 99% word of mouth. YOU could not possibly spread the word of promotions in a more cost effective and timely manner. Instead of criticizing people for wanting to know, you should be promoting it.

Satellite sites are an AWESOME tool, IF you use them as such.

I have nothing against satellite sites, I love the message boards and am a member of three satellite message boards, the thing I am getting at is that some customers that would not have [tried to talk] you down before on pricing of the satellite systems would end up [trying to talk] you down after seeing those commission structures where they would not do that before which could cost retailers some money or sales. Also the customers would want the system for next to nothing or for free even if they were getting the programming credits, they just see that as a bonus for signing up and some feel as if they should not have to pay for a satellite system if they have to pay for programming that the systems should be included in the programming price. I know thats what DHP is for.

There are customers getting Charter cable anywhere service that uses a primestar dish that they spray painted over with a skew and two lnbf's using a medium power satellite to get a lot of channels without having a credit card and no money up front, how can I compete against that? Thats just like what Primestar used to offer, its Primestar all over again.

Customer dont want you to make a lot of money from them, bc if they found out how much you made from them, they would not buy from you unless you gave them a deal.

    Moderator Hat On:

Guys, we've had some complaints about the use of the terms "jew" and "jewed" in this thread. Some people find it racially offensive. I would ask you to chose different language as this thread continues. I will be editing all of the posts that contain the language, and replacing it with "try to talk" or "trying to talk". Thanks for your understanding and cooporation.

Good thing I was away for a few days so that I didn't see it :)

I've seen a few retailer chats and they are just as borring as the consumer ones. The information on both chats are basically the same. One of the retailer chats I saw spent a lot of time on where to get decals for your truck or van and there wasn't much information on it that I wasn't already aware of.

It would be much different if we wanted transcripts from the EchoStar Training Channel which has sensitive information on it.
