is it possible to revert backward to the older hr54 from an hs17 without closing and reopening an account? This nexstar and CBS dispute is seriously pissing me off, and the lack of OTA support for the HS17 is the only thing I don't like about the server setup. I read elsewhere, on the edge utter site that there are NO plans to write a driver for the HS17. is this true?

Would such a receiver swap be considered an "upgrade," if it is even possible?

I failed to mention that I also need to keep my C61k's due to my viewing of the 4k channels. The poor Internet speeds in my area prevent me from streaming without excessive buffering.

Yes- It Possible and You can Keep the C61K as long as you have a 4K TV & D* 4K service - Call 1-800-531-5000
Good luck -you may have to call more than once

Is this possible without being "upgraded," or would such a swap force a new contract by default?

Another option would be to replace one of your devices with a HR24 and keep the HS17. You can attach an AM21 to the HR24 and get your OTA channels.

Nope, cannot have a second dvr on the same account as a HR17, so no HR24.
