As cute as those two are, I had to dump the recorded eps a couple of years back, so I cancelled it a little earlier. Badly written, poorly executed. All around mediocre hack television. Bruce McGill deserves better. The mother is beyond annoying; probably wouldn't be if that team could write better.

The only thing I am happy about is that some of you got some enjoyment out of it. I wish I could have. Not for me.

This show is like the opposite of Law & Order. Law & Order was strongly focused on the case and barely explored the characters at all... this show is all about the characters and it's like the case they solve each week is almost an after thought. I like most of the actors, especially the main ones... but I can't argue it is well-put-together television. I would like to see all the main players on stronger shows, frankly.

    +1.

It is also quite different in that L&O was a good show. One of the best, at least until it got diluted so much. I still use the 'Chung Chung' as my alert sound on my iPad. The guy who created that has racked up something on the order of 14 mil in royalties just for that sound. He calls it 'Ka-Ching Chung'.

While I didn't watch Law & Order much, my sense is I completely agree with your analysis. Which is also well described. :)

I also think Rizzoli and Isles is a strong enough premise--probably because of the actors and the characters--that it could be the stronger show you and I both would like to see. While we enjoy Rizzoli and Isles, I feel the writing and production values are not as good as they used to be nor as good as they could be.

    Peace,
    Tom

I also agree with Tom. I see R&I as an opportunity wasted. The premise and the actors were wonderful. Execution, maybe not so much. You have to deliver on the promise. When one of your supporting characters jumps off a bridge, maybe he sees the futility in trying to make this show much to write home about. What. Too soon?

The show is based on a book series which it has 0 in common with.

The books are very dark and the characters are not sleepover girlfriends.

The mother is not annoying and barely has a part.

I watch it because I love Angie Harmon and I drool over Maura's clothes, shoes and purses.

TNT has just announced the "winter premier date" will be Tuesday, Feb. 16 with two back-to-back episodes.

Both good reasons. Some people drool over one thing, others.....

Maybe they will hold those five till then to stretch it out. They do that a lot these days. Very annoying.

Season finale... Currently season 6 is showing. They are getting 7 seasons so there will be episodes in 2017.

Oh, right, we're talking about next season in this thread. I'm sure they'll split it up just like they have in the past. This season's premier began June 16 2015 with 12 episodes through the summer with the remaining 6 episodes in February and March 2016. It's frustrating to wait, but that will give them a small number of episodes to wrap things up.

I agree with short runs. When a network gives me 22 eps in 22 weeks, that is pretty daunting. It's a lot of pressure. It takes me three years to get through a 22-ep season anyway. 22 eps makes me want to just quit watching altogether, dump those eps to make room for other shows.

    And...

Lots of eps in a short time frame means pressure on the producers, writers, and actors, meaning maybe they do better work when things are stretched out more.
