a waste of money. glad I got my uebo M200 streamer which does exactly what I need. roku is a joke as far as I am concerned and it appears that the boxee box will kill it too. might have to get in on the discount for pre order very soon.

    How is it a joke?

    I love mine.

Had it for less than a week and I'm going to order another one.

I love how I can hook up my external drive and play videos off it, something Apple TV cannot do.

Has anyone had experience using the Roku to stream MLB.tv? I got mine this week with the thought that I might go with MLB.tv instead of the MLB EI package from D* next year.

How was the PQ? And any idea how much internet usage a single 3 hour game would use? The cable internet we use has a limit on usage for the month. It's 150G a month I think, but 20 bucks more for every 20G after that. I don't want to end up spending more using MLB.tv than I would have if I just bought the EI package.

Funny, I thought the clown was your avatar

LOL, yeah I live in the best state. You might want to learn proper grammar and punctuation before you trade insults with someone.

Thanx for the tip. I gave up trying and was waiting for someone to tell me it was finally there. Just downloaded it and I see that HULU+ is still not available. Nuts.

The USB streaming function is awesome!

I've been playing around with it the last 2 days.

I just hate how most of my videos are AVI and MKV, now I have to covert them all to MP4 just to get them to play

So I got my Roku box yesterday and had a question for those of you with the devices. Twice now, the box has rebooted on its own while it was playing a Netflix video. Both times, the video had just started and was maybe 5 minutes or so into the movie. It also seemed to reboot a couple of times while I was adding apps. Do you think I got a dud? It did a firmware upgrade when I first plugged it in, so it's running the latest firmware.

No, you didn't get a dud. I've got three Roku boxes and they all do the same thing as yours. Doesn't matter what I'm watching, the damn things keep rebooting. I've sent an email to Roku asking them to acknowledge the problem and fix it. This started before the 2.8 update came out.

I've got one Roku that I haven't loaded the new update on and it's running well right now. I think what we are seeing is a lot of people streaming at once and the streams get snarled up and the Roku has to reboot. When NetFlix starts streaming in 1080p it might clear up. We should get another update to the Roku boxes when that happens.

If you can, try the Roku now or in the next couple hours, no later. Post your findings. Apparently this only happens in the late afternoon/evening. Trying to use their forum, but I don't usually go there, know nobody, and I do see some posts about these issues. The Roku forum is nothing like ours.

I haven't had any problems with random rebooting.

I've had my Roku about 2 weeks now and everything has been pretty good.

I do notice during the day, the streaming is very slow.

I mostly use it at night when I go to bed and it's much faster.

Huh. I've never had a problem with streaming, just rebooting. After my random rebooting problems with TiVos, I'm not gonna put up with much more. I just ordered another Panny BD65 today. Streams NetFlix seamlessly. $103 on Amazon. I just paid about $140, with tax, a couple months ago for one and it's really an easy BD player to use.

I think something is going on with Roku's capacity to stream, that is caused by a higher number of subs using the boxes for streaming programming. I think WD's got a box out that has an HDD on it, or at least the function to add an external drive. That set needs a 1.4 HDMI setup of some sort, if I read it right. To get 1080p, I think it was. I'm not sure what that means.

But you've got the new models, right? I've got the older XRs and I think that might be why some of you don't see the issues we do.

I'm pretty bummed out about the Rokus at the moment. Spent an eternity on the phones yesterday with their tech support. Got nowhere except for a replacement for one box that I've always had problems with. If they're having a problem and know about it, they're not saying much.

Yeah I have the new XDS.

It's currently out of stock on Amazon and says 'will ship in 2 to 5 weeks'

I love the Roku so far, especially the ability to stream off my external hard drive. I have a bunch of Pawn Stars Season 3 episodes in 720p I downloaded. Only thing that irritates me is the fact videos must be in mp4 format :(

So now I have to convert all my .mkv and .avi files to .mp4 in order for them to work :nono2:

I hope Roku takes care of this soon.

As for the streaming, it more or less has to do with my crappy internet speed: up to 3mbps down, ~550 kbps up :nono2:

I read an article the other day on Yahoo finance that stated Netflix has the highest amount of bandwidth used in the United States for the evenings, like 6pm-10pm............ insane!
