I actually expect the -200s to be pretty much retail-ready. At this point the development has been going on for a long time.

When the testing receivers arrive, do we have to enable IAMANEDGECUTTER, or is it already activated? Is there anything that needs to be done besides hook the box up and work through the setup procedures? I am writing a list to myself of things that need to be done.

In round 2, I had to enable IAMANEDGECUTTER. Other than that, it was a straight hook up.

IAMANEDGECUTTER will need to be enabled in order to access the "misc. options" menu. Other than that, setup was a breeze and very quick. :)

...and then we wait for the first push to get the unit off the basic, shipping firmware. In round 2 mrv was not even on the shipping firmware and we did not have it until the first push.

Am I to understand that by "push" you mean that the receiver will automatically download the latest CE when it's in the stream? Or am I misunderstanding this?

You are correct. Directv will "push" the software onto the machine.

That is correct, but......... it has been reported in previous trials that some users had to pull (force) the download. With that in mind, instructions will be given as to how the downloads will be handled.

Yes, as others have said. The first few will be pushed to check that portion out against like what you'd get from a NR. Then as the trials continue we will be forced to download them just like a regular CE. :) If things go according to other trials I've been in, the initial rounds had more problems, as it gets to this round, there should be less problems and we will be going to market quicker, which also means the "First Look" has to be done even sooner. :)
