The guide will show both channels by default. On my H20 it is showing the SD channel before the HD channel in the guide, so when I punch in 622 it is going to the SD version of YES. This is probably the case as well with the HR20 (too lazy to check for certain right now).

That's exactly how it is. Pressing 622 gives you SD channel. Hopefully, they can reverse this.

This is what I mentioned before. My guess is they are still setting things up in time for opening day. They have our local stations defaulting to HD, so I would imagine they would do the same for our RSN's.

It took me a while to figure out where 96 and 97 went when I got home yesterday. I can't wait to watch Sportsnite in HD and Daily News Live if that is HD as well. D* needs to compete with TWC and Cablevision and Fios here now and they all carry the 24/7 HD channels.

Both are OOM for me and were both missing from my favorites list 1----added back in. Can't wait for 'channels I get' to be fixed---takes a long time to go through all the channels to see if you have them or not.

I'm pretty sure they're still just on spotbeam.

Spotbeam. They are part of the NYC HD locals package. The expectation is that they will go CONUS when DirecTV 10/11 are operational later this year.

Does anyone know if all Yankee games this year will be in HD? Or is it still "select" games, and most will be in SD but be broadcast over the HD channel?

    I'm a little confused...

For the last two years, the "select" games in HD were any game that the Yankee HD transmission equipment could conveniently be driven to, which is why all west coast games were not in HD. No idea about this year, but I expect the same general rule to apply. If they can't get the HD equipment to the away game, they can't broadcast in HD.

The only way I can see around this would be to negotiate with the home team to use their equipment, or to "rent" equipment regionally, but I'm not sure what the costs/logistics of that would be.

OK, so when will the rest of us (not in the NY area) get YES and MSG and SNY in HD? I know we may get some Yankees games in HD on ch 95, but since YES and the others aren't my RSN, we can only see these as part of Sportspack or Center Ice, Extra Innings, etc.

FYI, both YES HD and SNY HD are now both switched on in their new channel numbers. There's no games on right now, but both are currently broadcasting; last night there was just a D* logo.

Also, this thread has absolutely nothing to do with the HR20. This should be moved to the General D* forum.

I hope that DirecTV quickly gets these channels off of spotbeam and on conus asap...it will really stink to have to go thru another baseball season with only a very limited number of games in HD with the EI package.....last year we hardly had any in the first half of the season and then one a night during the 2nd half....that's unacceptable this year

Does that mean that at least all home games are in HD? That's a good start. Between that, the close-by games in Boston and Baltimore, it's still a good 75% of the games.

Sorry that I don't know this, I'm new to HD... I just got my HR20 last week specifically in time for baseball seaon.

    Just wondering...

Last year, every home game on YES was in HD. I believe all Boston, Toronto, Baltimore and Cleveland away games were also in HD. I can't recall on Tampa Bay, but I do remember that the farther away the game was, the less likelihood it would be in HD..

The only home games you might not see in HD this year would be those on FOX, based on last year (when they up-sized a SD picture, or something like that), and My9 (the old UPN), unless you can get to see that HD channel somewhere.

I purchased a Silver Sensor specifically to get 11 in HD for Mets games broadcast on it.

My9 and CW-11 are the only reasons I pay the monthly DVR fee for the Cablevision SA8300HD (the cable package is paid for by my commons fees).

Sadly, I live too far from NYC to get good OTA reception. :(

You're right....all home games and selected away games were broadcast by YES in HD; but not all of them were shown in HD by Direct TV. I made many a call to D* when I tuned to channel 96 (pre HR20) only to see that the game wasn't there and had to watch it in SD on YES 622. I'm hoping that now that it is spot beamed; all YES HD games and programming with be D* HD as well.

    Fingers crossed!

OK, is this a spot beam or what? Will I be able to get NHL Center Ice games from FSN in HD now?

Never mind, I just saw the post at the top there...

Does anyone know when the first actual HD will be on these channels?
I have both of these channels now but I have my HR20 set to stretch mode. Is the YES HD channel 480p until they have HD contnet or is suppposed to be 1080 with pillar boxes?
