I have a 211K that I use for my RV. Currently we have a SD TV, so I am still using a Dish 500 on a tripod to receive 110 and 119. I think I read somewhere that I could point the 500 to eastern arc. If I want to point to 61.5 and 72.7, how do I figure out the skew, azimuth, and elevation for the 500?

I am thinking about upgrading to a HDTV in the RV, so I would need a new dish. I would like to be able to use one dish and point to both Eastern and Western Arc and just change out the LNB. What dish and LNB's do I need?

Here is a link you can use by inputting the zip code and satellite to find the angles: http://www.dishpointer.com/.
    Thanks.

I use the 1000.4 dish with my RV and use both EA and WA LNBs, also use Tailgater which has worked very well when I have line of sight to WA and I feel lazy. NOTE: Tailgater will not work with EA satellites.

OK. What is the current dish for Western Arc? Dish Depot only lists the 1000.2 for both eastern and western arcs. Are they the current dish or is the 1000.4 the current dish?

There are two different lnbs for a D1000.2, the standard triple lnb for D1000.2 WA installs and the new D1000.2 EA with two lnbs for 61.5 and 72.7.

The D1000.2 EA is essentially a D1000.4 EA without the 77 lnb because many viewers on EA no longer need the 77 satellite for locals.

Dish is able to provide all MPEG4 content on two birds on EA, perhaps when WA is finally converted to all MPEG4 they can do the same for WA customers or and maybe add more channels to both arcs, or better still allot more bandwidth to each channel = better picture.

Don't tell anybody but bandwidth is more important than the number of horizontal pixels.

So what do they do if a customer needs 77, install a 1000.4? I can't find a 1000.4 for either arc.

What I am looking for is to future proof my choices. I normally will point to western arc, but want the ability to point to eastern arc for Los issues. Can a 1000.2 with a western arc lnb be pointed to eastern arc similar to a dish500? What are other RVers doing? I only want to carry one dish, but want the ability to point to either arc.

Just get the 1000.2 EA LNB and forget about 77 it is a Mexican satellite that DISH has a contract to use, but if you need Spanish programming then 77 could be important.

77 still has HD locals for a few DMAs but Dish is rapidly moving them from the conus satellite 77 to spot beams on 61.5.

There is a D1000.4 EA on ebay right now for $50 plus shipping, should be <$100, the guy has 98 of them.

A WA 1000.4 lnb on eBay is about $50.
