Your second source is from Federalist media, a self-proclaimed 'right leaning' organization. I'd rather trust trade publications.

But, what we think will have no bearing on the end result.

Please save your "CNN is FakeNews" for your Facebook and Twitter postings. We don't need that baloney here.

yeah, mods, i think it's time to lock it up, all this thread is doing is causing us to dabble into politics and critizing CNN ratings is very political due to President and his so called supporters are calling CNN a legit new organization "Fake News", the president really hates CNN period.

In other words "don't bother me with facts, I'm going to believe what I'm told to believe and claim it is 'proof'".

There was a time when I quite enjoyed CNN but that was pre summer 2015. Ever since then it’s gotten worse and worse to the point that I haven’t watched any CNN other then the odd Erin Burnett on mute. I much prefer OAN now. AT&T should buy Time Warner and agree to shut CNN down instead of selling it.

Yeah his source is so manipulative that it’s not worth reading at all.

I don’t think wb or Att will give in and they will take it to court if they have to.

I don’t see how they are going to stop this unless Att decides it’d just cost to much. But when you consider how much Att is worth, they can spend more than the government to litigate this!

I turn the sound off when Brooke Baldwin comes on, between the vocal fry (low growling) and uptalk (everything she says ends with an interrogatory inflection, well almost everything) she's enough to drive me to drink. Why are people copying people who talk in such a goofy way?

That growling, that really annoys me, she sounds like she's so satisfied with herself? I know why lemmings use vocal fry (the growling) and uptalk...they hear others and think it sounds good? There are a bunch of YouTube videos about this...syndrome? I searched both "vocal fry" and "uptalk" on YT and found a lot of videos? Some funny, some disturbing? I would normally put links in to those videos but anybody that's interested would be better off doing the searches and deciding which are the most informative?

I know folks who use uptalk? They end every sentence with an interrogatory infection that makes a statement sound like a question? Think about this? How would you like it if everybody you spoke to talked in questions? I see way too much of this? See what I mean? If every sentence is used as a question, how do you tell what's actually a question and what isn't?

Just read the above paragraphs, that's what uptalk sounds like, constant questions. Idiotic, I think folks that succumb to this syndrome are. Throw in the growling and it's just a mess.

My 9 year old granddaughter sounds like a Valley Girl. But she's cute. Adults who do this sound like simpletons, I think.

But hey, do the YT searches, form your own opinions. This thing is sweeping the nation.

    Three points.....

    (i) All news organizations publish "fake news". Because all of them have an agenda, and allow their personal beliefs to shape their news narratives. This applies to Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC. And it even applies to the Associated Press. Let's not forget that AP poll published less than two weeks before the GE that had HRC beating DJT by 14 points.
Hillary Clinton Leads Donald Trump by 14 Points Nationally in New Poll

(ii) Examine everything critically. Question everything that comes across your desk. And always consider the bias of the author. Things that my AP Political Science teacher inculcated in us during the first week of class.

(iii) ATT should be able to buy CNN, if that's what it wants. So should any other organization that wants it.
CNN is not the problem today. Neither is Fox News. Nor MSNBC. These are dying institutions.

86% of every incremental advertising dollar goes to Facebook or Google. 86%!!!!!

Instead of focusing on CNN, we should focus on Facebook and Google. The Obama administration should not have allowed FB to buy Whatsapp or Instagram.

In fact, from this point on, the federal government should immediately block all M&A transactions initiated by FB or Google, however small.

I dont know why people like to label things "fake". Unless they lied about numbers, a Poll that is wrong isn't fake news. A poll is a snapshot of the opinions of the people they contacted at a specific time. Things happen after a Poll is taken. The Poll you site was conducted 20-24 October. On 28 Oct, FBI Director Comey informed Congress he was re-opening the investigation into Clinton's servers. I wonder what kind of impact that had on voters?

And Polls aren't always right: if they were we wouldn't need to hold an election.

But we're not supposed to be talking politics. And I'm not; just trying to point out that because it was wrong, it shouldn't be labeled as fake.

However this plays out, it will be a legal nightmare that will take a long time to resolve. In the event of a trial over the $85.4 billion deal, AT&T intends to seek court permission for access to communications between the White House and the Justice Department about the takeover. Let it play out in the legal arena.

Something else lemming-like people like to use. They hear someone in a position of power use the term and they think they can repeat it in conversations. Why they feel that need is beyond me.

Did Dan Rather traffick in "fake news" before CBS fired him? What about several journalists who left CNN after a retracted story this summer? Fox News has also had to retract stories over the last year.

3 big-name journalists leave CNN over retracted story
Why is it so difficult for many of you to believe that journalists push fake news. They always have, and always will. They are human beings with biases, and those biases inform how they report the news.

    Want reform? Want more transparency?

Every journalist/anchor/reporter should divulge how they have voted over the past decade at all levels of government

Just because stories are retracted once in a great while doesn't mean it is "fake news". Fake news is knowingly publishing false stories. Journalists are human, and sometimes they get it wrong - maybe they have a bad source or otherwise don't follow the newspaper/network policies.

Printing a retraction shows that journalism is working as intended and correcting such mistakes. Ever seen purveyors of fake news like The Enquirer print a retraction? Of course not, what are they going to print "Last week's story claiming aliens secretly met with Trump in the White House was false, because we made it up and knew it was bull all along"

how is this thread still not locked, if this was that other satellite TV forum site, it would be locked now. can somebody please kill this thread, it was derailed and no longer talking about the topic of the DOJ telling AT&T to sell either DirecTV or the Turner Broadcasting Systems division of Time Warner to get the AT&T/Time Warner merger to get approved. but instead of the latest of how this merger can happen, instead the focus is CNN's ratings and it's very political at that.

Under the last post of a thread, right under the Reply button is "Ignore Thread". Click on that and confirm that you want to Ignore the Thread and you will not see it anymore. It is very handy, I use it almost daily.
