Can I use a 5s swm dish setup on a 3s swm account?
    Thanks

Yes, no problem. People switch them all the time for one reason or another. Most of them are going to the 3 from the 5 because they do not need what is on the 119 sat and or they have a tree or other item blocking the signal to that sat.

You do need to rerun satellite setup after you change the LNB.

Going to a three from five probably really won't matter though, I'm thinking.

With SWiM, the guide data always comes from the 101. If the setup isn't run, you won't see whatever is on 119, just like before.

I was under the impression that the SWM set the sat from communicating with the LNB and you did not need to run the sat setup ?
    Is that wrong ?
    Thanks

I've never used a swim lmb but I think you're right it does it automatically. You probably don't need to do a thing.

this is kind of interesting. If you have a receiver that came from a legacy set up, connecting that receiver to a fully functioning SWM LNB and that received will boot up in SWM mode, however if you went to the system settings and select more info, you will find that the receiver has the old settings on there.

I found that out. I swapped my legacy 5lnb for a swm 3lnb, but it was still showing 110 and 119 in the ss tables even though the swm lnb was auto detected. When I reran the setup they went away.

Exactly, but since SWM gets guide data from 101 all the time, this really does not causes any issues. Only thing I could think of is if when the receiver is booted on SWM does it load the 119 sat channels onto the guide data. I never bother to check. Or it knows is a SWM 3 and only loads the appropriate channels

Like I said, it still showed 110 and 119 until I reran the setup. It was like that for weeks with no guide issues. I guess the info was held in memory until then and that's why it was still showing in the ss screen.

Yes, but in addition to the SS screens for 110 and 119, did you also still see guide data for 119 such as the Spanish channels listed in the 400s before you reran the setup for the SL-3?

I have no idea. I have a custom guide setup that doesn't show those channels.
