The method that you are using to set your recordings should only result in recording the exact episode from the exact channel at the exact time that you selected. The only exception that I can think of is is a weather event prevents the recording from succeeding, the DVR might attempt to record a later showing of the same episode on the same channel. I think that the "next available episode" scenario that grover517 presented is the most likely scenario. I would suggest that, for the sake of "debugging" the current issue, it would be a good idea for your wife to hit the info button on the recorded episodes that she is about to watch in order to see what channel they have recorded from. If all of the recordings are from the satellite channels, and she subsequently has the fast forward issue, that would indicate that she's watching a "next available episode" rather than one that you have recorded for her.

Just to confirm: When she is watching the shows, it is via a DIRECTV receiver/TV and not a tablet/phone/computer using the DIRECT APP?

My wife is indeed watching via the HR44 not on an app. The episodes she can't forward through were recorded on an On Demand channel 1*** (though I never set it up to record there), but the ones she can forward through were not. And, it is also seemingly random.

There have not been any weather issues until this past week when there were violent thunderstorms. For at least the previous at least 3 months we never lost the satellite signal.

I can also tell you that since the HR44 has 5 tuners, there has never been a conflict (certainly not since hockey season and the TV "season" have ended) that has shown up in the guide. I apologize for the confusion of the term "manually" recording a show. I realize there is a manual record function. These shows are recorded from the Guide.

If you are specifically recording each show separately, as I indicated above I have been, the DVR will inform you right away when you press the record button that there is a conflict and ask if you want to cancel a different show or not record the one you just selected. That has never happened. So, I think I can safely rule out the "recording conflict" theory.

How you're getting On Demand recordings unusual. We've never had that happen on the 44.

Since I unplugged the ethernet cable, it has, obviously, stopped.
