Hmm... VERY weird. I'm getting the outage again. No weather. Checked the signal strengths. This time every *other* (odd) transponder on CA and CB is 0. Would that be a dish alignment issue? Or maybe a flakey multi-switch that I can swap out myself? Don't get how the issue is coming and going.

EDIT: looked at the 9500 test channels. 103 A EVEN and 103 B EVEN fail. The 2 ODDs are good. Would that point to the Dish or Multi-switch?

If you have a legacy LNB and SWM it could be the LNB, could be the SWM, could be the cables/connectors. You'll have to start swapping things around to isolate the problem.

Add El Rey Channel 341 to being out for a while. It just came back on.

Yesterday one of the Starz channels went dark for awhile. About ten minutes ago channel 242 USA went dark for a few minutes. Ran a System Test but everything reported normal.

I checked this morning about 6AM PST and the channels were still out for me. I might try a different port on the SWM tonight. Assuming its still out. Just another reason I am hesitant to do a truck roll. The guy will show up when its working and leave and 5 mins later it will go out again. I had that problem with Cox when I first got Gigabit. It would go out *every* evening at around 5pm to 8pm. So of course they wouldn't book an appointment that late and the guys would show up at 2pm or 3pm when it worked and leave. New modem, new PC, they swapped out the RG6 drop on the street to a RG10 and nothing. Finally they tracked it down to one of the boxes on the street. Took me over a month.

Change to a SWM setup, starting at the LNB on the dish arm.

Yeah, I didn't want to do a truck roll at the time, so I just did the legacy SWM in the attic. I'm not going to climb up a 2 story ladder. I like walking lol.

99% likely this is a cable/connector problem. The even numbered transponders on those two sats come down the same cable from the dish to the multiswitch. This used to be a frequent problem with legacy systems but of course you don't get the problem with an SWM LNB. Only with a multiswitch.
It could be a multiswitch problem but that is less likely.

Yeah, I have the SWM8 in the attic with the 4 wire LNB. I tried jiggling the cable on the back of the DVR and it didn't do anything. I'll try a different port on the multi-switch and I can also try move to the 2nd RG6 that I'm using for OTA right now.

If you call for service the installer would probably upgrade you to a SWM LNB and clip and reinstall connectors on the cable so your problem would be taken care of without having to diagnose which part caused it.

That assumes your dish is accessible without leaving the ladder, if it isn't Directv would insist on installing a new dish, in which case you would need to call a third party installer instead.

It appears random channels are going dark for a few minutes then coming back.

Yeah, another reason I have been hesitant. They'll want to swap out the LNB and the cables and the multi-switch and it'll be a 4 hour+ ordeal.

The dish is accessible without leaving the ladder, but when I have had a call, they always whine about the angle being too steep from my backyard and they want to set up the ladder in the neighbors yard (that whole walking thing I guess lol). Man, when I first got my dish installed, the guy went balls to the wall and DUCT TAPED 2 ladders together. SERIOUS.

This is the time of year for solar interference, perhaps the uplink Directv is receiving for various channels are getting hit with a solar outage for a few minutes, causing the channel to go dark.

All kinds of wonky stuff is going on.

    245 TNT is CNN
TruTV is out or says I do not have
    TBS is ESPN, etc etc.

A full receiver restart fixed the issue but I have never seen anything like that before.

TNT and CNN, Tru TV and Starz and TBS and ESPN2 swapped transponder slots this morning. For whatever reason your receiver didn't get the guide data update when it happened so those channel numbers were still pointing to their old slots.

I think you have a different issue. Every odd or even going down points to what has been suggested
