Wow. Maybe Oliver Stone can make a conspiracy movie about it.

Seems simple to me. They are doing what they did with the HD channels for quite some time now. Use the same number no matter if you are SD or HD. Just like ESPN, CNN, TBS, etc.

A little inconvenience for a some folks. Live with it.

This is not a sign of the end of SD anymore than adding HD was the first sign of the end of SD.

Looks like plain old bookkeeping to me.

Aligning the SD and HD channels (in all cases) is an improvement. I'd really like to see DTV address the (sports) 600's, where the majority of channels are XXX SD and XXX-1 HD... it's a pain to have to numerically enter the "-1". As for having gotten used to looking in the 380's, how about us that were used to the 70's and 80's from the Phase III days (I still have an H10 lumped in there with 2 HR20's and 4 HR21's). I long for the days of "two digit" HD channel entries. Let's go back to the dark ages!

The only way they can address the -1 issue is to make all the channels full time and that is not going to happen. Even with D12, not enough bandwidth for that.

Hello......this is not trigonometry. DirecTV has merely rolocated and regrouped some of their channels. If you pick up your remote and press GUIDE, then type 380 it tells you CBSe has moved to Ch 390. I believe that's called a "explaination". While this may be annoying it's far from being overwhelming! A lizard can comprehend this. Do you get this upset when the season's change?

I guess they finally did this because if you get the SD channel you now get the HD? Waivers used to be different for the two and are now that same, correct?

The topic is simple. Channels were relocated and regrouped. Nothing mysterious or foreboding about it. DirecTV has done so in the past and will most likely do so again in the future!

Yeah, these are MAJOR changes. There are whole herds of people who simply cannot re-program their thumb to press the 9 instead of the 8.

I wonder what these people do when someone changes cell phone number on them, they simply wouldn't know what to dial anymore!

It is a government conspiracy, specifically designed to confuse us! I mean, what is next? They would change the bus you take to work from line number 8 to line number 9? They change the frequency of your favorite FM station? RIOTS would ensue, panic would erupt!

    Or would it?

I can't decide whether this thread is funny or sad.

The next thing you know there will be a thread about how DirecTV isn't "family friendly" because they didn't add the Holiday Music channel soon enough.

Also, if I ever start a stupid thread I expect to be called out on it. I'm not sure why others get so sensitive when they get called out.

Some do rise to the bully pulpit so gee lay off the OP a bit. He is just curious about the facts which are sometimes hard to come by. Yet this has been hashed out beyond its time. As I said complaining about the channels moving are stupid, be happy you have HD DNS period. Im sure others would like just that in itself.

I notice that, when looking in the "To Do List" that although the channel listed is in the 900's the program is not listed as being recorded in HD. In the past I was grandfathered for SD only

Huh? Directv has had HD DNS feeds since before they launched their first LIL HD feed to any market in the country? I am confused...

He means that everyone that got SD DNS is now getting HD DNS. So he meant turned on "for him."

When the waiver process was seperate and some folks got SD and not HD, they could not put the channels on the same number because if you hid SD channels, you would never see the DNS feed working.

Same thing happened when they charged extra for HD for Sunday Ticket. They had to keep the channel numbers different (using -1 for those) so everyone would always see what they paid for.
