Searching For Authorized Content

    Yes - Ever since the most recent software download 0x145 - I just got it on the newest episode of 24 that I recorded this evening! What's up?

    I just tried to watch a recording of Star Track off of 301.
    Searching For Authorized Content was the result.
    what in the H*** is this?

    The "Authorized Content" flag makes me think it's a broadcast flag type deal, similar to what users complained about with Tivo. Expiration dates on content, like with recorded PPV movies or HBO series. There has been talk about time limits and restrictions on that type of programming. This could be a glitch in the way they're trying to implement those restrictions.

    I used to see this all the time with NHL Center Ice recordings, but it had been fixed until 145. Lately, I have seen the "searching for authorized content" message a couple of times, but in each case, it has "found" authorization, because it has let me watch. (Come to think of it, this did happen in one case where part of the recording was missing,
    I just didn't remember that the recording started that way until now...)

    I have gotten this message a few times and its starting to really upset me. Everyone keeps saying its because its either a ppv show or no phone line, well I here to tell you that both are not true. I never order ppv so I dont try to record them and my phone line has been connected from the very begaining and never gets disconnected. I tried to record one of the few Planet Earth shows that I dont have yet and I got this message. It doesnt happen to often but when it does it sucks. It will only happen with my hr20. I have a tivo and a r15 along with my hr20 and I have only seen this on my hr20. It has the newest sw on it to. When it took the new sw my hdmi started working which made me very happy. Over all I am happy with my hr20 its just this message it starting to get to me. I would call tech support but I know that wont get me any where.

    If it sounds like I am being a jerk please dont take it that way just venting some.

    I got this message once on a PPV I had ordered. I called D* support and it turns out my unit, which was brand new at the time, needed to be "activated" for purchasing PPV with my remote. Once that was done on D*'s side I've not had any trouble with PPV.

    I am on 0x14f and it happened to me ordering Casino Royale. I ordered via the remote and I am plugged into a phone line 24/7. The playlist said the recording was there but when I went to play it, there only a black screen. the timer bar said the movie was there. Hit play and nothing happened.

    So I ask, is there a proper way to buy and record a PPV? This is one area where the TiVo is superior. It gives you the choice to buy and record in one of the selections. The HR20 needs to do be able to this. But in the meantime, has anyone set forth the proper procedure to buy and record a PPV. Did a search and couldn't find anything. Thanks.

    Miss my TIVO. I noticed that, my options are Buy & Watch or Record/Buy/Watch.

    Sooooo. Does Buy & Watch mean you buy and watch it NOW (if it's not an ADT) but if you have to run out somewhere then "oh well" :eek2: OR

    Record/Pay/Watch means Record it, when you play it you have to pay first. Did that with one, shows it's there but haven't watched it yet.

    No idea why stuff has to be so confusing. Find a movie, click, buy, record.

    Just decided to add an HR20-100s to my D* account (still have 10-250's running) and so far, to say this is a "work in progress" is an understatement....:eek2:

    I'm all in favor of moving towards/learning another product....but....:mad:

    I'll confine this post to the current topic---I recorded an episode of "The John Riggins Show" off of MASN (626) on Thursday--and sat down to check it out tonight....and the enigmatic "Searching for Authorized Content" graphic pops up as SOON as I go to watch the viewing. I left the TV for awhile to come over here and search for this thread (as I'd remembered seeing it a few days ago) and as I'm searching, the recording starts playing....but what was SUPPOSED to be a 2 hour recording (per the on-screen text as well as my own recollection of the showing) turns into 30 seconds of video and the "Would you like to delete this recording?" Message pops out on screen.

    Phone line (as if that matters with a channel that's in the Sportspack and IS NOT PPV) is plugged in. SW version 0x146 downloaded on Monday when the system was installed.

    I also noticed tonight when I got home that the unit was locked/frozen and I had to reboot with the lovely red button....and in addition 3 recordings from today DID NOT record and DO NOT show up at all in the to do list/history. And 1 recording from overnight was 9 minutes long instead of :30. to this SFAC message.....WTF ?!!?

    I know this is an old thread, but wondering WTF.

    I recorded a movie from a channel I receive (Starz) and got the same message when I tried to play it back.

    Is there any actual explanation as to what this message means?
    I would call tech support, but the last time I called with a fairly simple issue, they managed to turn off all but one of my receivers by mistake- taking two hours to restore!

    WTF? What good is DVR if you can't watch it when you want?!

    I got the same message when I tied to watch a recording on Showtime. Now I have Showtime & had been watching several of the channels, so when I saw something on the SHOHD, I pressed the record button. Then when I went to watch it, bingo searching for authorization. Not to go through the several hours & calls to D*: they didn't have the HD channel turned on my account. After I got it turned on, I still couldn't watch what I'd recorded. During one of their many "troubleshooting steps", the recording disappeared.

    Just want to chime in here. I attempted to watch Shooter on 99 (HD-PPV) and right at the 5 minute mark, BAM, black screen..nothing. The unit just simply locked-up and allowed me to do nothing. Right when I was getting ready to call Directv the unit prompted me to buy or not buy. Once I selected the buy option the screen then started to flash wildly like the CPU was super busy. After I told it I wanted to purchase it I had to exit, press list, select the movie and start all over again from the beginning and then fast forward to the point where I left off.

    I have an HR20-100S. Surely, I am not the only one having this problem?

    I have the latest version of firmware.

    Had the same problem as I tried to record the Giants-Panthers game Friday 8-12 shown on NFL network. I set the recording up and went on vacation for a week. When I tried to play it yesterday I got the "Searching for authorized content" message. I left the HR20-100 search for about 10 minutes but never got the game and wound up deleting it.
