I just went to the D* website channel guide to program in a movie using my computer (haven't done it that way in a LONG time. When I click on the "R" to record it, it says that it will charge me $3.99 (I am planning on recording "Elf" on 12/5) Why does it want me to pay for it? Is this something new?

Did you choose to record a PPV? I can't imagine that Elf isn't playing on a linear channel somewhere.

Linear channel-wise it looks like USA (242) is going to be playing it twice in the next two weeks. One of the showings is indeed on December 5th.

    Wow!

That's spooky that they would ding you to record from a channel that you subscribe to.

No problem here either. Just scheduled to record ELF on USAHD, on Sunday 12/5 at 3:00 PM (for me PST) from my Blackberry app. No charge.... which would also be very silly.

Probably just a bug in the system.

It still appears as if it is going to charge me $3.99 What the heck is going on? I can click on a lot of other programs and not get that dollar sign and $3.99 thingy. :( Thought maybe I wasn't signed in, but I am. I'm confuzzled.

    NY Hudson...
New guide or old guide? If new guide, it could be buggy.

It appears to be a new style of guide. I haven't seen it before.

Still not able to record Elf with it saying something about having to pay $3.99 for it. Also, when I tried calling D*, it says that I am going to have to pay money to use the automated system OR talk to a live person. Is that true?

If you click on program details what channel is this program on that you want to record?

I'm guessing your trying to record the CINEMA version, which costs $3.99 and would explain the having to pay when calling too.

I just played with it (gotta admit it is much easier to navigate than the old one) and if you search "elf" you get the version on USA and if you try to record it says you will be charged $3.99 once you watch, but it will download immediately.
