I can wait. Starz has an app too and I think there's more content on that.

FWIW, I called and tried to get the Showtime for $6.99 for 6 months and it wasn't available to me. CSR said something to the effect of it depending on a person's account as to what promotions they are eligible for. Whatever that means.
I was able to get a 2 for 1 Showtime/Cinemax for $13.99 for 6 months. And he gave me $5/month off on HBO for 6 months, so essentially it works out to getting Showtime for $8/month plus free Cinemax for 6 months. Depending on how you want to look at it.
But, that deal worked for me, so I'm glad I called.

The only disclaimer in the email refers to "accounts in good standing" which couldn't really mean anything other than payment history, otherwise, there's nothing that should prevent anyone else from getting the $6.99 price regardless of how much and what kind of programming they currently have.

I just saw an add from directv to add showtime for six months for 6.99 per month. When I called directv and tried to add it, they said it wasn't available to me. What gives?

Just called in and spoke to front line customer service and retentions. Both were unable to replicate this deal. Disturbing as it is posted on their public YouTube channel.

Is anyone else pursuing this offer from Directv? I tried and got nowhere. False advertising.

I see that video was posted on July 23rd but the small print says it ends 12/31/16.

HOWEVER the phone number is not the main Directv #. It is 1-888-721-3314. Maybe that makes a difference?

The email I still have indicates the offer expires 12/31/16. I don't need Starz so I never tried the offer but the only disclaimer I see references "account in good standing", maybe there's something about the account they don't don't like. That phrase can be interpreted any way the issuer determines it to be.
