Sick and tired of the lack of response from my HR24 and remote

    OK, looks like the NVRAM and Extra Signal clearing made it more responsive. Interestingly enough, I think the problem was not necessarily the response of the remote but rather the response of the receiver to the remote calls. When I changed a channel or even selected PLAY on a recorded program, you could see that the receiver received the message, but then it stalls for a while before "going to work". We'll see how it goes.

    DIRECTV HR check list when having problems:

    1. Replace remote batteries
    2. Clear NVRAM
    3. Perform a complete reset
    4. Wait 24 hours for guide data to load
    5. Wait some more.
    6. Wait for DIRECTV software engineers to figure out how to write code.
    7. Stop waiting and switch to another provider.

    Step 7 is guaranteed to work.

    Step 7 worked for me. I'm now a happy FiOS customer.:D
