I downloaded 0x0229 sw to both the HR20s and HR21s tonight and ran the same test as before. The probem of the video stream not matching the channel banner after a transponder signal test remains. This happens on both the HR20-700 and HR21-700. Starting off with NASA (283) always brings me to Encore Mystery (530).

Tried it this morning with CE 0x229 on HR20-700
Started on 283, switched to 520 and the channel and banner changed correctly.

Also tried it on other HR20-700 on NR, worked correctly there too.

Same here, starting with NASA and ending with Encore Mystery.

For those of you with SWM prior to the SWMLine, did this occur then too? My guess is it would have, but I don't know since I didn't have an SWM prior, just the 4 wires in.

Does anyone know the frequency make-up and corresponding transponders and satellites?

I suspect since the SWM doesn't adjust the tuner/satellite/transponder for local spotbeams...maybe?

    Smiddy,

I had the SWM5, very first test, rev 0.4 or soemthing for firmware and don't recall seeing this problem.

Hopefully we have shown the DTV team a way to reproduce it in the lab and they can get a fix to us. Firmware would be nice, but I would happily replace the LNB to test it and send the old one back.

"I think" this is pure software:
HR20-700= local HD works after, while NASA goes to encore.
HR21-200= local HD goes black, while NASA goes to encore. This was the receiver I tested a few CEs back [during the system info blank screen bug]
H21-200 works FINE on both local and NASA channels.

Same thing happens here for me with a round 1 SWMLine. FW 1.0.9, Library 1.0.6.

    This is on a HR20-700

Well software is definitely easier to fix than a rom burn. On the SWM5, it was not field upgradable. One thing to remember is that this symptom may be just one manifestation larger issue. Hopefully they should be able to reproduce this readily in the lab and track down the cause and squash it. I'm curious to know what the relationship is between the starting channel video stream and the after video stream. Depending upon where you start, the ending point is different.

    Are the SWMLine field upgradeable?

It would have to be through a SAT feed and I highly doubt it after asking this to Earl over the 1.0.1 FW on the early SWM8 and it's lack of compatibility with the H20 models.

When I check my signal strength, then come back to programming, screen is black, no audio (this seems to happen only when exiting from certain sats) -- I just go to any channel and audio/video comes back. HR20-700 -- occured with both 0225 and 0229

Unless you subscribe to the channel it is jumping to, you would get a black screen.

It was on a channel I subscribe to when I left.... a silent, black screen when I returned. (when I returned from some sats))

Also, why would it "jump" to a channel I don't subscribe to? (there aren't many ;-) )

In the past, it would always return to whatever channel I had started from.

In the past the software worked correctly.
Now after going through the SAT level test it "returns" to some obscure channel, but "thinks" it returned to the correct channel..

VOS has explainerd it correctly. There is some relationship between original channel and the final channel, but we haven't been able to determine what that is. In my case, if I start form NASA It always ends up on Encore Mystery and it never varies from that. If I pick other channels as the starting point, the ending video stream is different. Sometimes it will jump to a blank or unsubscribed channel, resulting in a 721 message or to game lounge or just to what appears to be nowhere. Hopefully the DTV engineers have been watching this thread and have started an investigation into what is happening.

    Oh, OK... got it!

BTW It WILL go back to the "starting" channel if I return from 103(s) haven't discovered which others return correctly (if any).
