The channels in the lower 200s have contracts that specifically state that they have to be on those channel numbers. The content providers requested these specific channel numbers to try to help bring in viewers as they moved between their local channels in the 1-70 range, and the cable channels in the upper 200 and 300 range.

Once these contracts run out we may see DirecTV try to move them around to group their channels better. I wouldn't necessarily count on it though.

Why would their position on the guide make a difference? Their loyal viewers are going to watch them no matter where D* puts them. And where did you get their contracts anyway? I thought they were private business documents, not freely available to the public like FCC filings.

Why is it always so hard for you to grasp concepts around here?

    He's not making it up.

Send an E-Mail to D* and ask them. That is the response you'll get.

The MPEG2 channels 70-79 have never gone away.

Looking at the PID's themselves , 2 channels IIRC are still active on each TPN.

Not available but also not marked with *.

I've assumed this must be an effort to keep the satellite ACTIVE until future plans take effect! No clue as to what those "future plans" are.

I'm pretty sure that some commercial accounts still have access to these channels and that they are still in the process of winding them down. All residential accounts no longer have access since the "shut off" date earlier this year.

The bandwidth should return @ some point in the not too terribly distant future. I'd assume that it will be used for niche programming, but I really have no clue .. that's just me guessing.

It's common knowledge and common sense. broadcasters care about channel locations within a provider's lineup.

Did not see a new PID file for D-12 in this AM's check of TPN #31.
Nothing new in full check over weekend.

    Sixto?

There almost certainly has to be a new file to keep D-12 & D-10 separated . ?

Do you thing they may make the transfer like switching PT's and Cinema's until D-10 ready to come back on line and then divide the files??

I was expecting something as soon as D-12 started testing.

Some interesting stuff the night before.

Spike was missing so that's fixed.

Not sure why the 563-565, unless these are going Extra Pack, but other channels already there.

    MSNBC in lower case.

    Maybe some prep for tomorrow.

D12 data still a little in flux, transponder number still questionable.

    Test channel for ESPN3D.

    Still not sure of 563-565.

"*" always is indicator of future.
