I have a Slimeline 5 dish with an SL5 LNB with the SWM built in. I'm getting ready to add another HR-24 to my existing HR24 and HR44. As I understand it this means I need to upgrade to a SWM16. Can I replace my SL5 with an SL3 with 4 outputs without replacing the dish?

Sure. But make I would make sure that your locals are not from the 119 or subscribe to an international channels

I only use HD locals and don't get international channels. I thought all the HD locals were able to be picked up with the SL3.

see Gary's thread "Transponder Map ..."; there you'll find which sat/tpn carry your channels

The HD feeds for Albuquerque appear to be on 103 so I should be good.

You could use a swm8 if you want. A swm16 isn't needed. You don't even need to switch lnbs. Just get a swm splitter with 8 outputs.

Not true. He's gonna have 9 tuners total, so he absolutely will need the SWM16 unless he sets one of the HR24s to single-tuner mode.

And why would you want an 8 way for three receivers......

True, a four way would work, aside the HR44 that I missed.

Yup, in this case a 2 way for the HR24s would suffice as the HR44 can be connected directly to the SWM16
