Back to basics. Make sure the mast is plumb and that the elevation and skew are set according to your location. Adjust the azimuth to get 101 tuned in. Use the transponder with a low reading for this. Then use the dithering method to peak in 99 and 103. This has been described in other threads.

I'd also use http://dishpointer.com to get the alignment parameters for your street address.

Do you have b-band converters installed?

    Good catch carl.

Also, this thread seems to be a continuation of this one.

Carl, straight off the sl3 lnb that has 4 outputs, with 2 lines to the tuner 1 and 2 inputs, the other 2 outputs on the lnb are not used (only 1 receiver)

jd, you are correct, still cant get 99 to squeak at all!, clear unobstructed view and have used dishpointer, mast is plumb (checked many times) going in circles at this point.
    any suggestions would be great

How come with SWM set up you don't need b band converters? I have an extra SL3 LNB with four ports. So if I was going to use this for my R22-100 I would need these converters? One for each connection?

The H/HR23 series never needs bbcs. None of the rest need one in a swm setup, they do require them without the swm lnb.

So if I was going to use the SL3 LNB without them I would only get sat 101? How much do they run for? BB converters that is.

You do have to wait to get them though .. Fortunately they usually don't take more than a day or two. Just call DIRECTV and explain the situation and they'll send them out to you.

Thanks for the info Wallfishman. I should of never bought it on Ebay. But at least I can see sat 101. I currently have a swm with my R22-100 with SD programming. Got tired of the two cables. I get 101 at 100%. But mother nature takes to zero.

you dont need bbcs for swm. actually the r22 is a decent dvr in respect to it can be sd or hd. also it is the only standard def capable of deca mrv. all you need to do if you already have hd is redo sattelite setup to swm3 dish and then go into settings and change "hide hd" to "show all channels" and then you get hd. IF its on your account already and you have hd package.

I believe others have answered this, but yes if you are using a regular (non-SWM) LNB you need b-band converters except on an H/HR23. You do need them on the HR24.
