Boston too! It's only fair they address the markets that have been dealing with mpeg 4 problems the longest first. Tired of the lip sync, pixelation, and stuttering issues.

The PQ compared to OTA would be fine without these technical issues. It's not the resolution we are complaining about.

I agree. Boston should get fixed 11 and 1/2 days after NY. :D

I'm backing up Survivor on my old Tivo tonight just to avoid any possible hostility.

I'd be in the same boat with my wife; so I'm glad we moved our Tivo to the bedroom after we upgraded the family room to HD. I make sure all her shows also record in the bedroom in addition to the HR20. Gives me a backup.

It's funny. When we first got the Tivo. She had major approach avoidance. Didn't want to learn it. Then she fell in love with it.

Now, it's the same thing with the HR20. She doesn't like it because it's not like the Tivo. I tell her it's close enough and she'll get used to it.

She did admit that she likes watching her primetime shoes in HDTV.

How about they fix 27 of the NY ones and 1 of the Boston ones. Then in another 86 years they can fix another Boston channel.

    <ducking>

    :D :D

How about they charge about a billion dollars to fix them, and take more than 5 years to do it?

    Earl,

I am new to this board and I can say, you are my new best friend.

I anxiously have been waiting for the H20 DVR and purchased early on Sept, 11th. I have experienced many of the problems others have had and I am patiently waiting for the patch. I found Tivo and ultimate TV very user friendly and reliable. I am hoping that they "fix" the problems with this new DVR soon.

Although there are a few things I like over my Tivo, I really miss my "hack" on the 30 second button on my Tivo. The H20 is slow and irritating compared to my tivo. Any hopes of Directv coming up with an improvement to the 30 second feature?

Also, when I stop a recorded program in the middle of the show, the recorder does not save the spot where I stopped watching. It goes back to the beginning and I have to slowly fast forward to where I left off. Any idea of a fix for this?

    Thanks Earl,

    John

Press EXIT to get out of the recording instead of STOP.

    Thanks Jeremy,

It seems it would make more sense to just save the spot on the show no matter how you get out of there. Sort of like how Tivo does.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? But then again, Tivo doesn't have a stop button. So DirecTV could argue that the way they do it actually gives you more functionality than Tivo. Which is true, but it's still very confusing.

Good point. But it still doesn't make sense from a users point of view. I just don't find the new DVR as user friendly as I did both Ultimate TV and Tivo.

Our scheduled install is Oct. 3rd. I'm kind of torn...I'm anxious & want my new "toys" and to be able to dump cable, on the other hand, I'm almost happy bc I assume the updates will be fixed by then.
