It was really eerie. I was sitting out in fron of my house camera ready waiting for the Shuttle/747 to fly over my house (I'm pretty much in the JFK approach and EWR takeoff paths. Nothing happened, then I saw it on TV flying over Liberty Park (about 7-8 miles ATCF from where I am) so I gave up and took a ride to Sam's Club. While waiting for a red light on the corner of US RT1 the 747/Shuttle flew directly in front to me heading S->N on what I assume was it's second loop over Liberty Park & lower Manhattan. It was so close and so low it looked like I could throw a rock at it and hit it. I can't imagine it was above 1000 feet although news reports said 1500. I went for my cell phone and by the time I got the camera app up it was gone. I did see Enterprise in D.C. but this was one of the most awe inspiring sights I have seen. It would have made an incredible photo since the sun was pretty much behind it.
