Still cannot get netowrk services to pass. Widgets show up but no daily fortunes.

HR20-700

First lockup with Network Services enabled. RBR only option to correct. DVR was supposed to be recording BB10 and America's Got Talent tonight. Record light was on. Once the record time was over, the unit was unresponsive. I rebooted the unit and neither recording showed in the list as recorded. I've disabled network services to see what results that yeilds.

When deleting a program from the playlist with the red button, it doesn't always remove the program from the list. If I then select the program, "play" is no longer an option. When I return to the list, the program is no longer there. Sometimes the red button delete works normally, however.

Description: In System Setup > Sat & Ant, after I select View Signal Strength, I see a display of signal strengths for sat. 101, tuner 1, but there is no cursor shown, and I can't get to the displays for other satellites, nor for tuner 2. Pressing Select, Down arrow, Right arrow, Up arrow on the remote has no apparent effect. Pressing Left arrow exits the strength display mode normally.

This odd behavior has probably been triggered by some hardware failure in my system[*]. 0 signal strength is shown for sat. 101, transponders 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9 even though I do receive some channels on these transponders, according the the Transponder/Channel maps published in the dbstalk DIRECTV Programming and Services forum. However I am not getting proper signal for five channels supposedly on transponder 1 and five on transponder 2. (I do receive one or more channels on transponders 3, 5, 7, 9, even though signal strength for these is given as 0.)

Well both of my HR20-700s have been trucking along without any problems except for not having the daily fortune on either of them. No lockups, no slow downs since Friday night when I downloaded the CE.

So my only real problem as of now is No Daily Fortune still. Both HR20s are set up using static IPs, manual port settings, and both pass the network and internet tests yet fail the network services test.

Hmmm I haven't done anything that I recall but now network svc reports OK. Fortunes and widgets seems to be working as well I love it when this stuff fixes itself

 

Guys, I'm hit or miss for the next few weeks with a project at work but will continue to check in when I can. My question for the mods, will we get feedback from some of these issues to see if the problem is firmware or something on the network? I'm keeping my printer off of the network until I'm sure the lockups stop happening.

 

Ok I was able to download the CE tonight and now the HR21-700 that was giving me trouble will not even connect to the internet now. Every time I try to connect it connects to the network fine because I have the media share menu on the receiver and can play music no problems but I get error 22 every time for the internet test. I have tried it with both network services enabled and disabled and still it won't connect. My HR20-100 connects to the internet no problem. Since it is late I am going to restart every thing in the morning and see if that fixes it.

 

Ok I restarted every thing and it finally connected after I restarted Windows Internet Connection Sharing.

After last night's CE download, neither of my HR20-700s can pull up the widgets coming soon screen. Both had to be reconnected to the network. Both pass the network and internet test. Both fail the network services test. Prior to last night's download, I was able to at least pull up the widgets coming soon screen. I also am having problems getting my DirecTV2PC app to work now. I already posted information about this in that issues thread already.

Issues: (1) No widgets. (2) The problematic interaction between Mediashare and Daily Fortune is still there, which I reported above on 7-25-08, except that previously I couldn't use Right arrow to get back the previous menu, and now I can.

Internet, Network, Network Services tests all pass. Fortune works. The display of signal strengths that I reported above on 7-30-08 in #27 was not working, worked normally when I tried it just now. Mediashare is working -- I played two videos using the MediaTomb server on Linux.

 

Sorry guys. I haven't been able to test anything the last few days as my AT&T DSL service had a major outage in my area that lasted a couple of days. I will download the latest CE tonight and do more testing tomorrow.

 

I'm an idiot. The reason the two DVRs were working fine is because I didn't have network services turned on. I could have swore I did it though. Anyhow, I'm flying up to Michigan tomorrow for a funeral but will be back on Wednesday. I'll put the printer on the network again and see if all five lock up.

I was watching a recorded show tonight and I hit the right arrow button just to see if the widgets coming soon screen would come up and it didn't like I figured but when I hit the button the screen went blank for a couple seconds. It just does it for live shows. Also I have noticed since this CE my Internet connection has disconnected more then normal again.
