No, it's not the exact mid-point. The season is 17 weeks...not 16. It's 16 games with 1 bye week.
Why are you so opposed to people getting discounts? Companies would not offer them if they weren't making money still. I see no issue with people negotiating, but apparently you do.
...your post might make more sense if we were talking about discounts, but we are not.
You post the same exact stuff in the ST pricing thread, so my post does make sense. I know of a few people here that mentioned they wouldn't have a problem PAYING for RZC, they just wanted it as a stand alone. So in a sense that is a discount.
No it isn't.
I have never been a ST subscriber. I have been with D for about 10 years though.
I went online and emailed customer support. I did not threaten to quit or ask for it for free, in fact, I mentioned I would pay for it. After 2 emails, I was told to call in. I did mention that I had seen screen shots of people getting this deal.
Only advice I would give, be nice throughout the process. I was. I didn't whine, moan, or threaten to leave DirecTV over this. I just stuck to my guns of asking why some folks were able to get it and not me. I did mention that I was willing to pay for it, maybe that put me over the top.
Now i cant find any common link at all in getting redzone.
Some had ST in 2009, some didnt.
Some had ST in other years, some never ever had it at all.
Some said they knew that others were getting RZ alone, some never even mentioned that they knew that.
Some threatened to leave, some didnt even do that.
Some mentioned about even paying $$ for it, others didnt.
Some said they only really watch RZ, some never mentioned that.
Still avoiding the question. Why do you hate it when people try and negotiate?
And getting Red Zone Channel added for free is still considered a discount per the definition of discount (since DirecTV obviously has a way to offer Red Zone separately):
Look at lines 10-12 under noun, particular 12. Now if people were whining and complaining about getting something that clearly wasn't offered by DirecTV as a service, I could "sort of" see your point, but that is not the case. Either way, you still haven't addressed why you get bent out of shape when people negotiate for "discounts."
Try getting it (free or otherwise) without whining. It has yet to happen. I have nothing against folks negotiating or receiving discounts. Try harder...
I told them every time I asked for it that I would pay for it.
The problem lies with how DirecTV handles these requests. I'm sure most people, after being informed they don't qualify for it, would accept that and either order NFL ST, change providers to get NFL RedZone or live without it. HOWEVER, the fact that all of us here on this website (and a few other websites) KNOW, via screen shots, that this is in fact available, is frustrating when we're told it doesn't exist or you have to get NFL ST to get RZC. IMO just don't lie to us DirecTV
What is your definition of whining? One of the recent posters said he sent two emails. One saying it was offered as a stand along channel and requestiong it to be added to his account (I would say that is not whing and is truth). The second email was in response to thme saying it was not available a la carte (which is false) and he provided proof. They then took it to phone conversation and he got the channel added.
Not sure I really see "whining" in that. The biggest problem I have is being told lies. DirecTV saying it is not available a la carte is a lie, because we have already seen the "code" that specifically refers to Red Zone Channel. To be honest, if I could get a straight answer from DirecTV about what the requirements are for receivng that channel, I would be fine with it if I did not meet those requirements. Unfortuantely that is not the case though, they choose to just say it is only available as part of ST.
You seem to have a very loose definition of whining by the way. Becuase I always see posts from you complaining about people trying to get discounts that numerous other people receive and they may have been shot down by the first CSR they spoke with.
Reply to the second email just said the same thing as the first Email, and requested I call in to discuss it, and had the standard phone number for DirecTv. That was enough to tick me off, and I called to cancel, since I dont like being lied to. The cancellation department listened to my story, apologized, and gave it to me for free. FWIW, they claim that the Stand Alone Red Zone and Sunday Ticket are used to keep customers from canceling. I explained it was pretty odd a company would hold out carrots, and deny the rabbit a bite until the rabbit was so mad it tried to run away to another cage with free carrots.
In any case, I love the DirecTv service, and was really dreading switching to Comcast (Comcast actually has all the HD channels I watch regularly) due to the investment I have in DirecTv equipment, and due in large part to the enjoyment I get helping out and participating in this forum. I am glad they finally admitted they do have it. He wouldnt even let me pay the $9.99 for 5 months. If the entire CSR staff was allowed to treat customers as well as the retention department, DirecTv would get a 5 star rating for customer service.
Maybe some year they will get it.
Just say to them:
"Liar, liar, pants on fire, hangin from a telephone wire."
Wouldn't a more effective line to get them to add it be "hangin from a Comcast cable wire" ?
Lying implies that the CSRs know better. DIRECTV has established a strong record of "special" offers that CSRs have to put you only hold to find out about.
How many have been able to wrangle Superfan for free at one time or another?
I don't know why I'm bothering, but what exactly do you consider "whining"?
Now I'm no math expert but wouldn't the midpoint of a 17 week season be between the 8th and 9th weeks, or effectively, upon the conclusion of the 8th week?
There is one common link. Be polite and patient. Everyone who's been able to get it seems to have done that. You go in demanding and complaining and you're not going to get very far.
For those worried about the 10/31 thing, they told me that too.
This is on my bill:
So given it goes 7/19 to 02/18, and they told me 10/31, it doesn't matter, this says I'm good all season.
My guess is the offer may only be in the CSR system until 10/31?
I just tried but was only offered the $20 off discount. While normally I would jump at that offer, this year our expenses are very limited. I would love to just get the Red Zone Channel, and like some have stated I do feel that $50 is a fair price.
You'd pay $50 for 1 channel, but $130 more ($180 total) for EVERY game is too much? :eek2:
