Okay, the sports pack must be part of their bundle then.
Here's my story from an hour ago.
First of all, I've tried to keep up on all the posts in this thread and I may have missed one that says otherwise, but your odds of getting Red Zone Channel via email are the same as matching 4 of 5 Powerball numbers. You do have to work for it.
You gotta call in and as said here in previous posts, you have to be calm and polite. Sure there was urgency in my voice; you gotta get your point across.
Count on a 30-40 minute call. Also count on asking for the cancellation dept. The few times I called before, I've stopped at the first layer of CS and "accepted" what they told me.
I really want to believe these nice people that they don't think Red Zone ONLY isn't available, but I find it hard to believe that a memo hasn't gone out to every CS rep and supervisors above them saying that Red Zone is available a la carte, but feel each customer out and see where they're going....literally.
I stuck to my guns and politely said "cancellation" department please. I told the gentlemen in cancellation what a shame it would be to lose a 15 year customer over one channel that I know is available a la carte (I mentioned the DBS Talk message board/screenshot thing and he seemed uninterested) and miss out on the $2000 a year I give to them. I have NHL CI and MLB EI, get the Access Directv TV Guide, have and have had the Premier package, blah blah. Not smug, just the facts.
I told the first CS rep and the cancellation guy that I'd really have to switch to Comcast if we couldn't find a way to add the channel
And I offered to pay for the RZ Channel.
The cancel guy seemed a little more in tune and said I'm here and said things will go silent for just a moment. A minute later he said he CAN add the channel.
I guess the Readers Digest condensed version of all this is count on 2 layers of customer service, admire the acting the job the CS rep puts on (they know about the channel. They talk. This is their flagship product---NFL ST) and count on asking for cancellation.
Don't tell them what you know. Tell them what you'll do.
It was added to my account as soon as I hung up the phone and just checked online.
Dish doesn't have a standalone NFL Redzone Channel. RZC is included in the Mulit-Sports RSN Package for $7, no other way to get it from Dish.
Nit-pick all you want. The only part that refers to my friends is that there were a number of people who had ST in previous years. They don't this year and they surely don't keep me abreast of how much they're billed. I have discussed standalone RZC for $100 and everyone I spoke to agree that price is fair.
Anything having to do with the quoted cost comes directly from me and I know I'm not mistaken when the CSR told me yesterday $315 and NO deals (or whatever the lump sum amount is or "payment plan" option of six monthly paments). He even came out and said, "I can probably find you a deal," then asked me if I had subscribed to ST in the past. When I said "yes," he then said no deals were available.
D*'s loss, not mine. Whether it's $350, $315 or $185 the bottom line is I'm not paying that much for it.
Thanks for telling your story, Microphone.
Jumping through hoops like you did to get NFL Red Zone is something I don't want to do, shouldn't have to do, and probably couldn't do as I am under contract and do not subscribe to Sunday Ticket.
It just rubs me the wrong way knowing this channel I want is available, plus I am willing to pay a fair price for it, but probably won't be able to get it.
I don't know if you and I are in the same boat. I had Sunday Ticket since the beginning but canceled it this past spring. I guess I'm not under contract...but I told them Comcast made me a sweetheart Internet/TV offer that includes eating any penalties I would incur.
I don't want to say this stuff and I like DTV and like you feel that I shouldn't have to waste up to three quarters of an hour "fighting" to get a channel that others get and feel I should too, especially as loyalty and $$$ spent on programming and such seem to play a factor.
I told the person on the phone, I love DirecTV and was not planning on cancelling or leaving over this issue.
I was just flat out nice about it.
Took about 8 minutes to get it added to my account.
You've got the touch:goodjob:
Checked my bill and....
"your account does meet these requirements"
What is your secret?
Are you out of contract? Were you a NFL Sunday Ticket subscriber and recently canceled? Have you paid your bills on time for 4 years straight? Are you close friends with Earl?
Wow, DirecTV just emailed me out of nowhere saying they added the Red Zone channel for this season to my account, and apologized for "any inconveniences".
I'm a happy camper!
Hi I am a newbie here with D* TV. I have read that some people are able to get the stand alone Red Zone channel. I cannot afford to get the Sunday Ticket but would be willing to spend a little to get the Red Zone ticket. When I called today about adding it I was told that it is not a stand alone channel and the only way that I could get it was to buy the Sunday Ticket. Anybody got any suggestions on what I can do? Thanks
I had NFL ST until last year. Got too expensive, so I cancelled it.
As for the rest, LOL. Wish I could say I was close friends with Earl. He gets all of the cool D* toys.
What did you say to them. I have tried twice now and got know where. I just I am not nice enough
I'll bet you can't get it because you're a new sub.
Yea, this is the issue I am running in to as well. I have only been with DTV for about a month. I can't even get a better rate on ST.
That's tough on new subs, but I bet you got other discounts from them to start. I advise those who want Directv and would enjoy ST to sign up when the "Free Premier with ST" promo starts every year. $60/month for Premier AND Sunday Ticket for 5 months is pretty sweet.
The only thing I don't like about that is that you get no other discounts after the 5 months from what I understand. Also, once the five months are up can you downgrade packages without penalty or do you have to keep premiere for a certain time period?
It seems like the premiere deal is best for people who don't currently have other discounts. So that might be good for me next year if they allow me to do that after being with them for just a year.
Okay, so the three users listed here have gotten RZ SA. One user states that he had NFL ST last year and cancelled it due to expense. It would be nice to hear from the other two users if this is also the case for them (or when they last subscribed to ST) or anything else that might give us a hint as to what qualifies ones account to be eligable for RZ SA. Thanks in advance.
