Both 638 and 638-1 were blacked out tonight - 638-1 did carry the postgame while 638 remained blacked out completely.
The NBA League Pass thing is a good point though - if they can supply the feeds to other providers of League Pass then Center Ice shouldn't be a problem.
Does anyone know how much that weasel Bettman makes a year? He is a fool and driving the NHL into the ground. I don't know how all these owners put up with some of his foolish business practices! He is a class clown! The NBA knows how to run things!
Thanks for the additional #"s. I'll call tomorrow; didn't get a chance today.
I watched the SD MSG feeds tonight and they all looked better than that feed a couple of nights ago; if I recall, the one that looked real bad was the Devils/Flyers gm the other night on MSG+2. The best SD feed tonight on my 50" Plasma (viewing dist ~9 ft) was the Devils gm, followed by the Rangers feed. imo, the Isles feed was in last place.
I guess the SD feeds take getting used to watching them, like I did last year. I haven't tried the "sync'ing" thing with 2 boxes but I have 2 boxes in the same room. I have a SD box in my main viewing rm along with 1 of my HD boxes. Both are connected to my home theater sound receiver. The only reason that I haven't tried it is because I constantly toggle between the 3 MSG team's games and it would seem to me to be too much hassle to toggle 2boxes to get the MSG sound of each game. I might try it the next time that either the Rangers or Devils are playing without the other team playing the same evening.
Just had an idea....it might work good if I remove my IR Extender Blaster from the SD box IR receiver window just for CI game nights. I use my SD box to route XM sound to other rooms in the house and to watch SD TV occasionally on my PC/TV monitor. That's why I use a remote IR/RF Extender for that box.
Back on topic: I seem to also remember some posts last year about the MSG/HD issue that mentioned that there's more to the HD issue than a "fight" between the Dolan's and the NHL. IIRC, wasn't there something last year about the NHL not initially getting MSG's permission to carry the HD feeds in CI? I guess the roadblock is "$$'s" as usual.
This just in - MSG games in SD will now be in black and white.
I missed the post game show because I tried 638, but didn't try 638-1. I can't understand why they blacked out the MSG SD feed to begin with.
Now I noticed that they aren't carrying the Sabres game against the Predators this Sat on NHLCI at all! Only MSG is carrying the game, but no feed in NHLCI. The next Sabres game to be televised on D* is on Friday 10/16, since we won't get the VS game on 10/13.
Correction, I found the Sabres/Predaters game on ch 785, which is listed as a PPV channel. So we will get that game.
Wiiiiiilllllllbrrrrrrr. (Attempted Mr. Ed speak.)
I disagree with this too. Yes, the Islanders are still in rebuilding mode, and Goalie 2021 may not be back until then. But even with them, you never know.
But calling the Devils a high school team? Please. The Leafs are a good bet for the playoffs, and the Devils are a high school team? Yeah, OK. Do you watch the games?
Your big picture is a little fuzzy right now. As much as I want to call the Penguins and Caps a lock for the playoffs, you have to remember at the all-star break this past season the Penguins were out of a playoff spot and not looking good. There are no locks.
Your other 'locks'...the Flyers are a lock for nothing. Their goaltending guarantees that. Neither are the Bruins. Will Tim Thomas repeat his season from last year? Not sure. Will the Bruins make the playoffs? Probably. A lock? No way. The Habs, of all teams, a virtual lock? The Canes a lock? Oh my goodness.
As always, playoff spots are up for grabs. As difficult as it would have been to declare the Penguins a Stanley Cup contender in January, it's that much more difficult to declare playoff 'locks' in early October. :nono2:
Let the season play out and see what happens. To keep this on topic, it's quite possible three of the four MSG teams will make the playoffs.
The only feed of the Sabres v Predators will come from MSG. The game has no local TV coverage in TN.
On the comment about the Coyotes HD feed, I'm glad that website wasn't accurate. It was nice to watch that game in full wide screen HD, instead of up-converted SD.
And since its the Sabres feed, unfortunately its probably going to be blacked out on NHLCI in your area.
I do not need the TV coverage because I will be there in my Hasek jersey screaming for our team.
So are you a Sabres fan? Your avatar looks like they are wearing Predators jerseys, is that correct?
That works great if you subscribe to XM. To listen to the Sabres feed w/o XM, you have to use the WGR feed over the internet or use a second D* receiver for sound.
I am a Preds fan by default, season tickets, because I love hockey. I was born and raised in Cheektowaga and love the Sabres and Bills.
No! Again, the MSG HD in CI is nothing like the Philly situation. In Philly, Comcast is using the terrestrial loophole to refuse to sell CSN at any price to DTV.
MSG HD is carried by DTV. Cablevision forces DTV to black out the HD NHL broadcasts to CI. Those broadcasts are available if you live MSG's DMA.
In summary, there is NO TECHNICAL ISSUE!
and subtitled with no audio...... (sorry RJ fans)
Actually, Cablevision (the Dolans) force ALL providers to black out MSG HD hockey broadcasts.
OK, but I love hockey & football, live in Dallas and haven't become a Stars or Cowboys fan by default. I have become a part time Rangers and Mavs fan, since for the most part there really wasn't an MLB or NBA team in Buffalo. Although with those teams, I have learned to be like many Dallas fans, only supporting them when they are winning.
Well, yes you're right but it seems like DirecTV is the only other provider outside of the local market that has MSG HD at all.
