I wish you could change the placement of the widget bar, also I wish there wasn't a big black bar on the side of the screen, why can't it be transparent? I really like the idea of apps but they are a bit slow.

Have to be honest and say 'Most the time', which for me is about 99%. Only had it not come up twice in over a year and I use it a couple times a week for sports scores and radar.

Mine work. I usually check 'Today in History'. I check a few others too like Facebook, 'my team's score' or whatever it's called, "weather", etc.

    I also use the D-Link DIR-825.

I love them. For me, they have consistently gotten better and more reliable. I keep current sports apps (baseball during the season) since I have favorites in both leagues. You can have multiples of NFL, now NBA, and MLBs set up if you do it through the online TVApps setup. Here in FL, radar is a must this time of year. All in all I have come to rely on them being there and I think it is one of the better innovations of D* (way more than Active which needs to die!).

I have tried on three different occasions and software updates to get TV Apps to work with no success. I have tried automatic and manual firewall/port configurations with no success either. Unfortunately, I think it has to do with my network setup where my Internet connection goes to my Vonage router and then my network sits on another router behind that to ensure my voice traffic is prioritized properly (Vonage Wife Acceptance Factor is a MUST). I am pretty sure that second hop is probably the cause of my issue and I haven't had the time to try to run a 2nd ethernet cable from my MRV Internet connection directly to the vonage router instead.

At my parents house, as soon as I connected the receiver to the Internet, TV Apps popped right up.

I voted they always work and they do. They're just pretty slow. I like the weather app and the radar app most. More speed would be nice.

They failed to appear for a while on my HR21-200 box. After a reset they started to work again.

    This thread jinxed me...

After I posted, I went to add the NOAA weather radar and now the Apps won't reappear. I'm sure a RBR will fix that but I haven't bothered.

    Sorry about that!

Based on the results the problem is not as widespread as I thought from some of the other postings, although I still can't figure out why it doesn't work for me. No errors on the status screens, using dd-wrt router, uPNP enabled, done RBR, ...

What do you see when you log into the website?
Do you see your receiver listed?

I'm seeing a tremendous amount of uPNP traffic on my net (about a 1000 packets an hour), so I'm probably going to try turning that off on the router, and static configure the HR20 and router firewall. Any particular things to watch out for when doing a static configuration?

Well, after having no problems whatsoever with TV Apps on my R22 and my HR20 all along I had to have the HR20 replaced.

Now on the replacement HR20 I cannot get TV Apps to work. I hit the right arrow and the notification that TV Apps is starting appears for 2 seconds, then it goes away and nothing happens.

My network connection is active. My replacement receiver shows up when I log into I did a soft reset, rechecked the the network connection and still...nada.

It just doesn't work any more.

Switched to static configuration, no change. Logs from my router show packets going out from the HR20 (so I know DNS is working), and packets on the STB port I assigned coming in and getting passed through, so the firewall is letting them pass.

But still get TV Apps loading message popping up for only a couple seconds, then nothing. Also, my router isn't registering any connection activity from/to the HR20 when I try and bring up the TV Apps.
