Hey, my HR54 is all of a sudden giving me 920 guide error messages every few hours with the last one saying I'm now past 4 hours without receiving any guide info.

    Anyone else getting them?

    Things you can Do
    1. Reset the receiver
    2. Check your Sat Signal levels ( low Levels) mean Service call of Dish Blockage (trees)
    3. If the above things cure the trbl not to worry
    4. If it continues Check you outside RG6 fittings for water damage
    5. Possible LNB Failure

There was a rash of these early this week or the week before. The problem was on the DTV end. They fixed it in a few hours and messages went away.

When it's on DirecTV's end, resetting your receiver is the LAST thing you should do as it will pretty much be a brick waiting for the the guide data to arrive

That's what I think I remember reading. And DIRECTV advised not to reset your receiver IIRC too ...

So I'll hold off restarting for a while longer to see if the messages go away on their own. But will check signal levels ...

if it's APG outage, then it should affect many if no all DTV users

I guess everyone else knows what APG means? Assists Per Game? Angiosperm Phylogeny Group? Automated Password Generator? This will keep me awake all night...search returned 65 meanings.

    "Advanced Program Guide"

And finally gave my HR54 a "CLEARMYBOX" to double-reboot and flush the guide cache when I happened to wake up at around 4:00 AM PST. So far about 7 hours later the 920 guide error messages have not returned. So guess it was just my box.

I’m having this issue to all of a sudden and can’t figure out what is going on. I have one genie one and three HR 24’s. Strange thing is I’m getting the 920 error on two of the HR 24s. The other HR 24 and the genie one is perfectly fine and has no errors.

I had an ATT service guy come out this week and he told me that lately the older equipment hasn’t been talking to the new equipment and did a force software update on every box. He then pull the cards and reset the receivers... The guide was there initially and then after an hour or so it starts giving me the 920 error message again (on those two boxes only) and the guide info is gone. I’ve tried to pull the cards again and still the same issue. I’m not sure what the heck is going on.

    Any info is appreciated.

A friend suggested the CLEARMYBOX method on all (3) HR24’s a day after the service guy came to the house. All was good with the guide after they rebooted but an hour later, the same (2) HR24s had the 920 error with the guide missing. Very odd.

What model HR24s do you have (HR24-100, HR24-200 or HR24-500)? The HR24-500s are known to have issues.

CLEARMYBOX doesn't seem to fix anything just cleans things up. I've used it for years and never saw anything get fixed. Makes the box run better for a time and then you're back to where you were. Just my opinion based on what I've seen. Anybody: Ever see an actual "fix" by using CLEARMYBOX?

The HR24s I’m having guide issues with are -200 and -500. The other HR24 that I’m not having guide issues with is a -200. Still no consistency.

    What should I do next?

When doing a diagnostic on one of the receivers, it notes that there is possibly a wiring issue. I have another service appointment today...so we'll see what happens.

The AT&T tech came out and replaced my SWiM, LNB, and "distribution block" under the house will reducing the number of cables. He noted that one of the components was extra hot and that he thought that some of the circuitry had failed. After replacing all of that, we rebooted everything and all seems to be good in regards to the 920 error. He noted that I had the old LNB, etc and that they do fail after several years of use...also, the new equipment draws less current, etc.

I tried to use the on demand function later that night. It was then apparent that my receivers are no longer connected to the internet. All of my ethernet cables are hardwired to the receiver the same as it was with the same DECA home kit installed that I had before. I rebooted the network, etc and did the network reset, etc. On both the HR24's and Genie1, I still can't connect to the internet. Maybe the DECA I have doesn't talk with the new LNB / SWiM? I have no idea. I was able to call tech support and waited on the phone for 30 min before I finally went to bed. I'll call them again tonight.

This will never end it seems.
