Called today and the first CSR was clueless. I then spoke with his supervisor, who was happy to give me Red Zone Channel for free and offered ST for 50% off. I took the free Red Zone and passed on ST.

I might try for free ST once it gets closer to the season.

However, I was pretty happy with what I got for about 10 minutes of my time today.

I just called. My billing cycle starts tomorrow and she said the charges would be on that bill. I asked to cancel and she offered half off. Said id think about it. Off topic, i got a call from directv a couple months ago offering free baseball package if i upgrade from choice extra classic to choice ultimate. I said sure but it was never processed. Asked this csr about it and she said there were notes about a choice ultimate offer but no specifics. Who could i get in touch with about that? Sorry to go off topic

I called and spoke with retention. I got ST Max and they took $35/mo. for six months off my premier package. So ST will effectively be $15/mo for 6 months, $90 total. Very happy with D* as always.

Currently in contract and was able to call and get Redzone channel again free for this year. Didn't really push getting ST, but it was interesting that the guy didnt even know they had Redzone as a free standing channel. Took all of five minutes for him to find and activate.

Looked at my account today and the CSR had signed me up for the ST Max, rather than the ST basic we agreed on. Called back and told the CSR of my situation and previous discussion and that I wanted to cancel ST Max. Was offered 6 payments at $40 each for a total of $240 to keep the Max. So grand total of $240 - $75 credit I got initially = $165 for ST Max and I think got a pretty fair deal.

Just got off the phone with DirecTV. They guy offered me RedZone for free at first, I asked if he could do any better. I mentioned that I know people were getting it for cheaper if they signed an extension on their contract. He came back with Sunday Ticket + RedZone for the normal $199, but gave me $20 off for 12 months if I added a year to my contract. So I'm getting Sunday Ticket + RedZone for free and some credit back.

I also asked if he could give me any kind of discounts on the HR34. It took him a while and some supervisor approval, but he came back with the HR34 upgrade for ~$150 with install, which I took. I had to agree to a 2 year extension to get that done.

So for $110 and a 2 year extension, I'm getting a new HR34 and Sunday Ticket/RedZone for free.

All in all, I'm very happy with the call.

I researched the dbstalk.com thread on this before I called to make sure I had my bases covered. So I called regular CSR...Best offer was the regular deal of $299.99. Nope.

I called back and selected "Cancel Service" at the menu option and was put into contact with someone to help. I was just honest, saying that I wanted to work a deal with Sunday ticket because other people are getting a good deal. The best they could give me is $149 for regular Sunday ticket...which is $50 off...I told him that I needed the ST MAX and that others were getting it for $100-$125 with MAX included. He started questioning me about where I found out about this, etc. He said the $149 for ST was the only offer available to him. I thought...that's doesn't sound right. I asked him if he was a CSR or in Retention…he said he was a CSR. Ugh.. I then asked for Retention and he transferred me.

So I talk to a cool guy from Idaho and confirmed he was in retention…we talked about sports, etc. He checked my account…I told him about the going rate for the deals, possibility of extending my contract, etc. After a lot of talk about the weather, sports, etc, he said that I’ve been a great customer…. He said the going rate that he could do was $148, but since I was such a good customer, he would leave the auto-renewal and CREDIT $148 back to my account. I then received my credit email. I said…are you sure? You’re not going to get in trouble for this, are you? He said no, you’ve been a great customer. Thanks. And that was it. NFL Sunday ticket max for FREE !!! No extended contract. I have referred several new customers though so maybe that was it.

I talked to someone tonight, and I got the 24.99 6 payment option for Sunday Ticket. I said I would think about it. If I can, I may just go with that. But if this viacom thing drags longer, or my sisters show Hollywood Heights gets pulled online then I may discuss things with retention using this, and the fact Uverse and Charter have decent deals right now along with the fact my contract is up on September 15th is going to get me into retention.

I paid $150 in full for ST last month, however I figured this dispute is my best chance on an upgrade deal. So I called in today and politely mentioned Viacom and that I already pay for Encore and after a very brief check, the rep added ST Max at no additional charge.

If I was on the phone for more than five minutes I would be shocked.

Two step process, but ultimately ST Max for $150.

A couple of days ago I called and got ST for 4 payments of $24.99 and 6 months of Showtime for free. I am in contract until April and didn't have to extend the contract.

DirecTV looks like they are negotiating less and less. I've been an NFLST subscriber for 12 years, have a very high-end programming package, and am out of my 2 year commitment at month's end.

Called, got to retention. I said I just wanted the Red Zone Channel, since that's all I watch any more. She told me the best they could do was $180 for ST MAX.

I wasn't in the mood to play CSR roulette, so I said that was still too much just for the Red Zone Channel and to cancel the package. She went and did so without question. She did note that she "documented my account in case future offers come up"...whatever that means.

Oh well...it's unfortunate, but I had gotten tired of paying $300 for what amounted to a single channel.

Just called, because I really didn't want to pay 300 bucks for basically the Red Zone channel. I spoke to a very nice CSR and she offered me 179 in 6 installments. Then I asked for an update on the Viacom situation and I was very honest, said that little one liked Diego and Dora and I like to watch Comedy Central once in a blue moon, so I asked for a status update. She told me information that was available to her was the same as the info available on directvpromise.com. To finalize, I politely asked if she could offer me any promotion - I'm in my 13th month as Directv subscriber, so I'm still under contract. She offered me 10 bucks off for 3 months, plus Showtime for free for 1 month, with auto cancel. So the way I see it, I'm getting Sunday Ticket max for 149, which I personally consider it to be good value.

Well, I didn't get the deal I wanted but I also didn't use the Viacom stuff (nor threaten to cancel).

    I was offered:

Normal Sunday Ticket with free Red Zone (6 x $25)($150)
    Sunday Ticket Max (6 x $35)($210)

    I took the first one.

The mobile deal is so restrictive since they don't show any televised games I don't mind passing on that and $150 is fair as long as they give me Red Zone.

I may revisit it before the season anyway.

Are you sure you were with retention? I got the best deal I have ever received this year on the first try, although I am sure I just got lucky.

She immediately offers me $99 ST or Red Zone for free. Says she computer won't let her do both. I say my wife wants to watch some show on Showtime, is there a way we can work it into the deal to offset cost of ST? She says let me see, comes back a couple of minutes later and says she figured it out and could give me ST and Red Zone for $99, plus she could give me Showtime for 6 months for free and a $5 credit for 6 months. So all that for $69. Wow.

Only thing I'll miss is the Short Cuts, but I couldn't pass up that deal and didn't want to push my luck.

Didn't even mention Viacom, though I suspect that had something to do with it. I also have been a subscriber since 1999, and she kept making a big deal out of that (although in making deals before no retention rep has seemed to care).

Anyway, thanks to y'all on this forum, I've been able to make a deal three years in a row. This, by far, is the best one yet. Good luck. And if at first you don't succeed ...

I just called and scored pretty good on the first attempt!

I had already gotten the full NFL ST package last year for free. I had also upgraded some equipment earlier this year and am now back under contract. So I didn't know if I had any credits to work off of or not.

Told the CSR that I was interested in what deals could be worked out for Standard NFL ST and the Red Zone channel. She said that she could do a package for $29.99 for 5 months instead of $39.99 and add Red Zone for free. I said "Let's try that".

After several minutes, she said that she couldn't code the system to let her add Red Zone for free. So she said "let me do this". She added NFL ST at regular price for 5 months, added NFL ST MAX for $0.00, and then credited me $5 for six months on every movie channel I get on my Premier package.

So after six months, I'm paying $53.45 total for NFL Sunday Ticket MAX. :)

Shows already I'm good for ST MAX online and authorized over the receivers!

Last year I got ST and Redzone for $122, plus was credited $15 a month for 24 months. This year Free Sunday Ticket Max and $10 HD fee waiver for 12 months.

Been a subscriber of DTV and ST since 1999, early adopter of HD, but never any movie channels. Just Choice Plus. I have been trying to leave for Uverse for several years now, but they just keep offering me deals that get me to stay.

You know if they would just charge $150 a year for ST MAX, I would probably never call to cancel.

I dealt with a clueless CSR who offered me ST Max for $199. I passed. She was trying to sell me based on last year's price, but since fewer games are available this season on ST, I told her that comparing this year to last is irrelevant.
The CSR transferred me to retention, got the ST, no Max for $99, with no extension of my commitment and found out that I'm month-to-month.

Just spun the "CSR roulette" wheel, and came away pleased.

Even though I said "cancel" at the first prompt I ended up talking to a regular CSR who offered me a one time credit of $120, so I asked for retention.

I asked when my contract was to expire (next month) and stated my concerns about price, Viacom, and HD DVR recording capacity. After 45 minutes BSing about sports, weather, etc, I ended up with free Sunday Ticket (no max, will have to call back to try to get that), $20 off for 12 months, and a FREE HR-34. I had to extend my contract for two years but it was worth it, very happy.
