Just to add my $.02. I am a fairly recent subscriber to D* and was OK with $200 for Sunday Ticket Max for the 2012 Season. As you know, $200 only gets you Sunday Ticket (no Max). My wife loves the Max part because I can watch the game on the iPhone while she is shopping or whatever and she can now convince me to accompany her on Sundays in the Fall (particularly around Christmas shopping season).

We saw the first payment on the monthly bill. I told her it did not include Max. She immediately called D* and after talking to a couple of people she was able to get Max added for no extra charge. I got the whole enchilada for $200 which is fair to me and I am happy that D* cut me a deal being a fairly new subscriber.

I have been loving DirecTV and its awesome features. I can't imagine going back to the dark ages (cable) now that I have seen the light (D*)!

Called today. Retention CSR seemed new and had to put me on hold a couple times but did offer Free Sunday Ticket with me accepting a 1 year contract. I ask if they could throw-in Red zone channel for free too? After getting put on hold again CSR was able to offer ST Max on top of ST, so I'm very pleased. Thanks again DBStalk.

As shown above, this was the deal I had negotiated. Much to my surprise, when I got my statement yesterday, it had a charge of $49.99 and showed 1 of 6 payments (Yes, full price). After calling I got a nice customer service rep, who saw the note for my original deal and told me I didn't qualify for the previous discount. She said that deal was no longer available, but after speaking with her supervisor, she was able to get me the current deal of $36.99 x 4 payments. This was cheaper than my original deal, so I'm happy there, but a little dismayed that they never notified me that the deal was rescinded and tried to sneak the charge past me. Good thing I always go over all of my statements.

Just called and got the ST Max for free for agreeing to go under contract for 1 year. Don't like being under "contract" but I have no plans on switching services in the next year so I took that deal.

I received two offers. Sunday Ticket (no max) for $99.96 for the season. Second offer was for Sunday Ticket Max for free if I entended my contract a year from the day. So given the fact that I am under contract through April of '13 anyway, I just had to extended that contract for 4 more month and got it all free.....

Tough decision, but I think free won out :)

There is a thread around here where some people posted their NFLST set-ups. You have to do some searching.

So I called a couple weeks ago and was offered MAX for $150 with no other credits. I said no and cancelled. I got my next bill and ST was still there so I called again this morning.

They couldn't offer the $150 price again but they could offer MAX for $210 plus $390 in bill credits. $210 - $390 = -$180

    I said yes. :D

Was offered ST-Max free for 1 year commitment, ST-Max for $150 no commitment, or ST-noMax for $99, no commitment. Took the $99 no Max offer.

Additional discounts: $10 off per month HD discount for one year ($120, so much for no commitment), $5 off per month for 6 months of HBO which I already subscribe to ($30). Free showtime for 3 months.

I called last night, using "cancel service" at the voice prompts to get to retention.

I asked what discounts were available on ST/ST MAX and the HR34. I ended up with:
    ST Max: $150
    HR-34: $99
    Statement credit: -$50

Note that the HR-34 discount required a 24 month contract extension, but I'm not planning on going anywhere anytime soon.

So my grand total was $200, which I'm plenty happy with. I can't wait to record 7 NFL games at once (5 on the HR-34 and 2 on my HR-24)! :D

You know with Max you can just record all the 30 minute condensed versions right?

Yeah, but I can just use 30 second skip to cruise through them and don't have to wait until late Sunday night before I even start recording them. :)

I do record and keep all the shortcuts of my team's games, though. That way I'm not wasting many hours of recording space on the full things.

Just got off the phone with a DTV rep. He told me that anything ive heard about customers getting the ST for free if they extended for a year was just "hearsay" So no luck for me, glad others here are getting some good deals at least.

I'm out of contract and didn't get offered free ST with a commitment either. I did receive 1/2 off regular ST and another $60 in credits. Net due: $40...I can handle that.

First off, here is my situation because deals vary according to account status. I'm 20 months into a 24 month contract with DirecTv. I have two friend referrals I'm credited with and I order UFC ppvs quite frequently.

Here's what I did. I wanted Sunday Ticket Max and the new HR-34 receiver so I called retention. I told them I wanted Sunday Ticket Max free and willing to pay $100 for new receiver. To my utter surprise the guy said I was eligible to get both Ticket Max and the HR-34 free with a two year commitment. Plus he gave me $20 off a month for a year of programming credits and free DVr service valued at $8 month for a whole year. No installation fees either. Nothing out of my pocket up front. What a deal!

In summation, make sure you are talking to retention and not just customer service reps. Retention has the deals! CSR was only going to give me half off. Ultimately be patient and persistent but kind. However, I believe it all comes down to the status of your account (how many months on contract, how many referrals you have and how much you spend on premium channels and ppvs etc. I got a great deal and hope you get it too!
