So pricing for ST this yr will be $225 for basic and $300 for max. I was just curious which package most people will be choosing this yr.

Called last week to see what kind of a deal I could get for Sunday Ticket. Spoke with a wonderful CSR named Theresa. I think she said she was in Colorado. Anyway here is what she offered:

NFL Sunday Ticket Max for 6 payments of $29.99
$10.00 HD credit for six months
$15.00 credit off base package for one year
$2.00 regional sports fee credit for one year
Free upgrade to the Genie which I decided I am going to wait on till the HR44 is deployed in my area.

Overall getting Sunday Ticket Max for $17.94 this year, not free but pretty darn close. I am very happy.

Would be quite happy with that deal !! I have 2 months left on my current contract and I even asked her to verify that hoping she might offer up some kind of break. Nope, not at all just continued on with canceling me out. That's the luck I have :)
I think they appreciate it more if you are honest about what you want. Next time you call (dont wait awhile) just let them know that you see people online getting it for free with bill credits and that you are a good customer to and want to see what you can get. You should not expect them to just offer you something. You didnt ask for anything so you didnt get anything. Try again and let us know.

Called in and got transferred to retention and eventually a supervisor. Indicated that I was looking to get the redzone channel for free. I indicated that some friends of mine were given that deal and I was looking to get something similar. They wouldn't budge. The best they would give me was free starz for 6 months or the Genie client for free. I've been with directv for 10 years. I have the protection plan on my account, along with 4 hd receivers, and two movie channels. My bill is around $130. I even advised that I would consider switching to dish network if they wouldn't give me the redzone or sunday ticket for free.

I'm curious if I would have better luck calling back a second or third time, or if I'm basically out of luck this year.

Be persistent but curtious....Eventually you'll get it.

I think you should call back. Everything you stated sounded good but there was one key piece missing. Do you always pay your bill on time? Are you behind on your bill at the time you were calling?

My bill is charged to my cc automatically every month.
Then you have anything on your side. Call back for sure and dont wait a month or two. Sometimes these offers seem to dry up. We are almost to August already. I would get it out of the way now.

It gets more bizarre as we approach the start of the season. I told a friend of mine about the deal I got so she calls retention and says she wants the same deal I got. The girl says to her how about we give it to you for no charge and she says great. After I hear about this I call retention back and ask for the no charge deal and she says she cant give it to me because I got a bunch of credits earlier that run out for 24 months. I mildly protest and she says that she will give me an additional $50 one time credit so now I'm paying $99 for the Max package.

I guess it pays to keep calling!

Well I guess the 3rd time was a charm, didn’t get ST for free but no complaints. This was the offer from D*

ST-Max 4 payments of $36.99 = $147.96
$20 in credits a month for 12 months = $240.00
Additional $15 in credits a month for a 15 months = $225.00

So I PAY $147.96 for ST –Max and have $465.00 in credit off the bill for next year and a half. Also threw in the Genie whole home upgrade thing as well.
Each time I called was very nice with whatever CSR I ended up with and each time I did tell them that I was seeking some type of a price reduction for the ST never told them or demanded it for free just whatever they could do to help would be appreciated. They even apologized that the first CSR I spoke with never even offered any kind of compromise on the cost and just cancel me right from the start.
As an added bonus they threw in HBO free for 3 months ( can watch hard Knocks now) and knocked off $10 off my Sports pack for 6 months as well.
So as previously mentioned by forum members be consistent in your efforts but be nice and pleasant when you call and even when a CSR may not cut you any breaks. This was not my first time calling each year at the start of the new NFL season asking for a favor but this was the first time it took 3 tries to get any help from D*.

called back this afternoon. They said i am not eligible for any discounts on sunday ticket, since i have received over $800 in credits over the last two years. Other than switching providers in order to get the redzone channel, anyone have any advice?

Sounds like you have run the "tap" dry as far as discounts go. Good thing is you have already saved over 800.00 and can use some of that savings to pay for Sunday Ticket

#364 ·
Did my yearly call...never had to go to retention. The CSR gave me the following:

07/31/2013 XXXXXXXXXXXX NFL SUNDAY TICKET MAX 2013 HD - Charge $0.00 $0.00
07/31/2013 XXXXXXXXXXXX NFL SUNDAY TICKET MAX 2013 - Gen Reten CRG ($147.96) ($7.40)
07/31/2013 XXXXXXXXXXXX XTRA - $20/12mos/Agree ($20.00) ($1.00)
07/31/2013 XXXXXXXXXXXX Advanced Receiver-HD - 12moFreeHDExist ($10.00) ($0.50)
07/31/2013 XXXXXXXXXXXX NFL SUNDAY TICKET MAX 2013 - Charge $147.96 $7.40

$30/month off my bill for the next year AND Sunday Ticket Max for FREE...all it cost me was committing for another year and 10 minutes of my time!
Was offered the Genie for free too, declined...not a big TV watcher, no need for Genie.

That is alot in credits. Any reason why you still feel you should get it free with those kinds of credits?

You have to understand that my bill has averaged $130 (after credits) over the
Ast two years. $10 for matching dish networks hd for life promotion, $10 for refer a friend, annd another $10-$15 for a reductuionon a premium channel for subscribing to a different premium channel. I am not saying i deserve it for free, but they arent willing to budge.

The amounts you are describing do not add up to $800. I hope they are wrong and you can get it free. Have you always paid your bill on time and are you current right now?

Customer since 1999, mostly at the Choice level. I explained that I'd like to stick with DirecTV, but ST is the main reason I don't look elsewhere. It's just too expensive to justify at the regular price.

Free Sunday Ticket.
Max for $75.
$15 off my bill for 15 months.
One year commitment.

I took it.

If you got those deals, you were already speaking to retention.

Said "cancel" at prompt but still got frontline CSR. Asked for retention and was sent immediately.

Got the best offer I've ever had for ST:
St MAX for one-time $149.99 with an instant credit of $149.99 (so free)
$20 off for next 12 months ($240)
$15 dollars off for next 15 months. ($225)

So free ST Max plus $465 off my bill for the next year.

VERY HAPPY with the my call...which took 27 mins.

Just did my annual call. Said Cancel and was put in the queue. Thought it was retentions at first. Was offered 6x38? (whatever that offer was, others in the thread). Denied, then was offered 169 (179 for ST, free Max, one time $10 off). Denied that again. CSR said maybe the 'outbound' call center could help. Of course they can!

With just asking for a discount on ST, offered
ST MAX for 150. (we paid the same last year)
$10 off for $6 months. (we already have a few other discounts on the account).

CSR said he has a bunch of free equiptment ready for us once we want to reup... moving in a few months, so just going to do it then. Anyway, this works for me!

So it took 2 calls and a long wait on hold, but I did get the same great deal some are getting on NFL ST.

First call, the guy had a heavy accent and I had trouble understanding him. He said he could give me the early prom for 6 payments of $37.99. I'm thinking, thanks for offering me what I already can get. Then he said something about if I got it free last year I could get it free again. So I said free is good, I'll take that. Then he said, I can only offer 6 payments of $37.99. Said thanks and hung up.

Second call, nice pleasant woman, could offer 6 payments of $29.99. Had some discussions then I mentioned I had heard about getting it free for 1 yr commitment. She said that the promotions dept could offer something like that and transferred me. Another nice woman took the call and I told her what I had heard.

She then offered:

NFL ST free
Red Zone free
$20 Credit for 12 months
$15 credit for 15 months.

Sweet! Just had to do the 1 yr commitment, which only actually extended my commitment 5 months.

(On a side note, can I tell you I miss the old forum? Can't seem to figure out how to upload an attachment on the new one)
