So pricing for ST this yr will be $225 for basic and $300 for max. I was just curious which package most people will be choosing this yr.

Has anyone had good luck getting deals on the other packages? I am honestly on the fence about cord cutting but a good deal on NHL Center Ice would definitely keep me for another year, don't have much interest in the Sunday Ticket though.
I got a deal for MLB Xtra Innings as well as Sunday Ticket. Dont sub to the NBA package as I am a Mavs fanand get their games already and I do not watch NHL.

One more data point...

Premier customer since 1998. Got to Retention, and asked the CSR if I was eligible for the same Free ST offer that they are giving to new subs. She came back with Free ST and $26.50 in recurring monthly discounts for the next 12 months. I asked if this included MAX, and she said no, but that she would look into it. She then came back with free MAX as well. Had to agree to a 1-year commitment, which was actually moot because I already am under commitment until 10/2014.

Just like every year, it was a semi-annoying but highly lucrative half hour phone call. Good luck all.

Just completed my annual ST call (2 "cancels" at the auto-menu's). I didn't verify that I reached Retentions but I had to have, considering what they gave me.

1st phone call results:

Background:

- Non-SWM SL5 install since '08, with 1 HR23 and 1 H22
- DTV customer since '99, good standing. Autopay, Premium pkg.
- 1 current credit on acct prior to today's phone call; free HD for 24 mo

I received:

- Free ST Max
- $20 general monthy discount for 12 mo
- $15 general monthy discount for 15 mo
- $10 Sports Pkg discount for 6 mo
- 50% discount for the "Startz" movie channel pkg for 12 mo
- $5 discount SHO/HBO/CIN movie channel pkg for 6 mo

Free offer for a Genie upgrade. I think he said it's the HR44 but not positive about that part, could be an HR34.

Called today about the protection plan and, as I thought, I already have 2 HD-DVRs and a Genie so there is really nothing I can get upgraded to. After a very nice chat the CSR asked if it would be OK if she transferred me to someone who might be able to help me in other areas. Of course I said yes. It must have been retention because I was offered and accepted the following:

Sunday Ticket - Free
Redzone Channel - Free
GenieGo - Free
$20 credit for 12 months.

It did require a 1 year commitment, but my contract doesn't expire till March 2014 and I'm not going anywhere anyhow.

$15.00 off x 12 months for premier
$5.00 off x 6 months sports package

I asked about NHL CI when I called about NFL ST and she told me there is no pricing yet. Two years go, they gave me a deal. I did a 1 pay for full amount of 171.80 and then they gave me a credit back of 125.80 with a net cost of $46 (see attachement) So you might try calling back when the pricing is released.

(I was able to attach this old attachment that was stored on my account, but can't add new attachments. Does anyone have any idea on how to add new attachments?)

After reading all of these, I decided to call back today. I had already called last week and got $456 in credits going out 15 months, but zero off of ST Max. I asked for retention and said I was inquiring about the free ST deal with 1-year commitment. CSR told me that she could give me regular ST for free, and Max for 75, or $18.75 x 4. On top of the other credits I have, I'm very happy with that.

FWIW, I'm a 14 year customer, never paid late, get MLB EI and NFL ST every year, and have had Premier for several years.

Just got off the phone with DirecTV Retentions, got my best deal ever in 11 years of doing this. When I called, I was unsuccessful getting to retentions saying cancel, I asked the rep for the phone number and password to retentions and she said she could just connect me. Verified with the rep I was transferred to that it was the retentions department and told her I was considering switching to Dish due to monthly fees and the cost of the Sunday ticket MAX being $347! She put me on hold and came back with the following:

Free Standard Sunday Ticket or Sunday Ticket Max for $40 (2 monthly payments of $20)
$15 monthly Bill credit for next $15 months

Was required to add a year to my contract, but somehow it only added 3 months. My original contract was to expire in May of 2014, with the Sunday Ticket Max for $40 and $15 credits for $15 months, it will now expire in August of 2014. Perfect time to call again and get my deal next year. I confirmed that I have not been charged for Sunday ticket this year on Auto renew, she in fact cancelled it and signed me up for the new free offer.

Nice deal and relatively easy, $40 for Sunday Ticket Max and extra $15 in Bill credits for 15 months. She also advised me to call back next month as some of the discounts I get on premiums are set to expire and she stated I should be eligible for new discounts. Let the football season begin!

Did Pretty well:

Free Basic Sunday Ticket for 2013 - 2014
$26.50 Credit for 12 months
$20.00 Credit for the following 12 months

Total credits $753.00 over 2 years with a 1 year contract extension.
We have been them since 1994, so I think we can wort with a 1 year extension.

Made my call on Friday...I called last year on August 20th and renewed for one year and got $30 a month for 12 months in credits, ST and RZ for free. I was not really interested in MAX.

I did say CANCEL twice and was transferred to a very nice lady in Retention (I asked her to be sure). I basically wanted the same deal I had and maybe try out the Fox sports channels for six months so I can see my hometown college football team. She told me that I should call back on August 20th of this year as all my discounts are still in play and nothing new is showing up and will not until those fall off. Looks like I am calling back in a couple of weeks!

Got Regular Sunday Ticket for free along with $20 credit for 12 months with 1 year contract extension. Took 1 call to retention but with 3 different people to talk to get it. I am very happy with it.

I've never had Sunday Ticket before, so I thought I would try to get a deal while I made my annual call to see what discounts I could get. I ended up with what I think is a nice deal...

Free Basic Sunday Ticket
$15 off/15 months
$10 off/12 months
Free upgrade to Genie and Genie Client.

Not bad for a 20 minute call, especially since I am coming off of a $20 off/12 month deal.

The first time I called the CSR offered ST Max for $147.96. She said that was the best she could do. I told her I would think about it and hung up. The second and third time I called, I got cut off when the frontline CSR transferred me to retention. The fourth call the retention CSR also offered ST Max for $147.96. I asked if I could get it for free, but she said no. She then offered a $50 credit and I decided to take the offer. I got ST Max for under a $100. It's not free like many people here have gotten but I'm happy with the deal.

While on the phone I was also able to get free HD for 24 months. It's been three years since I last paid for HD so I'm glad it's been extended.

Thanks to all the posters who gave their experiences getting ST.

Go Texans!

Best yearly call for ST I've had EVER, and it wasn't even a retention guy. I didn't say 'cancel' at the prompts, I just said 'change programming', and then I kind of just said "blah" a few times when I kept getting prompted. It was amusing to myself.

So the CSR gave me Sunday Ticket free if I agreed to a 1 year contract, and then he said he'd take another $20 a month off.

Haven't had a contract in over 10 years. Guess it was obvious I wasn't going anywhere.

Then I asked about the Genie, and he threw that in with a mini genie remote for free as well. Just have to pay the $50 install. Added a 2nd year to the contract though.

Don't think I did too bad.

Made a throw-away call last Friday and spoke to a regular CSR, who quoted the advertised prices. Called back yesterday and said cancel at the prompt. Didn't verify it was retention, just asked how much time was left on my commitment. CSR noticed I had asked about ST and offered:

ST Max 50% off
$20 off for 12 months
$15 off for 15 months
$5 off premiums for 6 months (all 4 plus sports pack

More than what I was looking for so I took it. Didn't mention a commitment but I wouldn't mind anyway.

WOW!! Got so much more than I expected.

Called up and got a regular CSR (their voice recognition software sucks so I had to go through the number system). Asked her to transfer me to retention.

When I talked to the girl there, she said she could offer only $5/month on the ST. Hemmed and hawed and said I'd have to think about it but was there anything better she could do for me? She said no. I asked if this was the retention department and she said no, I told her to transfer me there.

Talked to Jane, a very pleasant woman. Said I was looking to see what she could do in regards to the price of ST. She repeated the request and added, "and you'd like it for free." I laughed and said, "Well that would be nice!"

She waited for her computer prompts and came back with that I'm in luck and I would get ST Max for free at no charge. Then she looked to see what other discounts I could get. $20 off a month for 12 months, another $10 off for 12 months (HD fee), and another $15 off a month for 15 months. Then she asked if I watched any movie channels. I said I DVR a lot of stuff when there are previews but I'm not missing much. She came back for free Showtime for 4 months and free Starz for 6 months.

So, my bill is almost cut in half, I get free ST and 2 fee movie services.

I love Direct TV!!! (I upgraded to Genie about 3 months ago so I didn't even inquire about that!)

the other day my wife sent me a copy of our bill with Sunday ticket being charged to us.. so I called to cancel.. when you cancel Sunday Ticket, you get a free pass to retention... the guy there offered me free Sunday ticket without the red zone.. and a free DVR... and since my bill would be going up, I said that I would call back.. I called back last night.. wow.. I immediately was offered the full Sunday Ticket and a GENIE.. plus a $15 discount per month.. Well, I took the Sunday Ticket.. but I really am trying to hold the line on my bill, which is still over $100 with out locals and I don't do pay per view.. I really don't know how much I would like a Genie.. we are still talking about that one.. but Sunday Ticket / Red ZONE you bet..

Still no dice for me. But did reach a really sweet lady who tried everything to get me Sunday Ticket for free or a big discount. Still have too many credits from resigning up last september. According to her I will get more deals calling in September. She felt bad and threw in 2 months of premium channels & sports pack for free and I didnt even have to sign up yet for ST. Getting caught up on Season 8 of Dexter was worth the call.
