I won't be purchasing either. To expensive, for my budget, for just a few hours of TV, for 17 Sundays in a row.

Opting out of ST this year. I figure that between Thursday nights, Sunday nights, and Monday nights plus other opportunities I'll get approx 8 Bears games for free (I live outside of Rochester, MN - so Vikings country). I can't justify the cost for the other 8 games and I don't want to spend the time trying to negotiate a better price. $15/game - maybe. $25/game - no way.

Being I am retired now and at home I get to watch my local team every week via the local stations. I am also a season ticket holder for the Saints, so I will not renew my Sunday Ticket.

Correct and this assumes you want to commit every Sunday to being in front of the TV as opposed to going to a fair one weeeknd, blah blah. Yes you can buy it a la carte, but the per Sunday price is a joke.

Certainly not all, but a good portion of NFL fans will go with their locals and Red Zone as these are people that gamble with their fantasy teams, football pool or the point spread. The big dark secret the makes the NFL the clear ratings winner.

I called about a week ago to ask what the price for 2013 ... i was also told, like some here from a CSR that it was $199 again this year for basic.. i decided to bite since it was the same price as last year. My bill came out yesterday and looking at the charges they billed me "5 payments of $44.95" for the sunday ticket... Now, i might not be the best at math but, that comes out to $224.75 not $199.....

Not many Saints games being shown where I live, so I'm bound to pay for ST this season (got it 4 free last year). Wish the NFL offered games to all providers on an a la carte basis. If reasonably priced, they would make a killing.

They used to, not sure if they still do though. When you brought up the channel, and you were not a subscriber, there was a icon on the lower right hand corner that allowed you to purchase the single game.

So no discount this year? Historically, there used to be about a $15-$20 discount for renewals. I was hoping that those who were told the price was $199 were quoted the renewal price.

So what does DirecTV mean when they have those ads now that say less than $2 per game? How are they calculating that? Or am I viewing that ad wrong?

I'm guessing that over the course of the 17-week season more than 113 games will appear on Sunday Ticket. That would make the $225 price less than $2 per game.

Per GTs list a minimum of 144 games are on ST.
They dont say in the commercial that they are talking about max so seems they mean just the $225 version.
144 x 2 = $288 which is less than $225 so yep its less than $2 per game.

It's not just near the goal line, it's every big play, every good play, every turnover and it's non stop action with no commercials, no timeouts. I watch my teams games, but other than that I'm glued to the Redzone.

Yea i dont get why people say redzone is just goal line & scoring plays.

What do they think happens at 1:00 for example is the screen just supposed to stay blank until 1 of those situations occurs ?

Or at 4:30 when sometimes theres only 3 games -- if it was just for only those 2 situations again there would sure be alot of blank screentime.

This really is the best part of RedZoneChannel.....I watch the Niners game and then the rest of the time its RZC simply because its non-stop football....no commercial after a kickoff, no timeouts.....just non-stop football. I will say that the end of the day when there is only 1 or 2 games going on its kinda boring because they do a lot of earlier game recaps and stats....but IMO its the best way to watch the NFL when you're not watching your team play :)

Well, that's great if you want to watch football only at the start of each window.

But it isnt just at the start.

Alot of times in the 4:05-7:45 window 1 or 2 games are in a timeout while the other 1 or 2 are only at the 40.
