And now you are paying a discounted rate for Choice Xtra, Choice Ultimate, or Premier and getting Sunday Ticket for free. Either way, this is a new customer offer only and the new customer offer at this time of year always includes Sunday Ticket. It was right in the information you copied from that link you posted......

NEW! DIRECTV now offers NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ at no extra charge to new and qualifying customers who select one of the following packages: CHOICE XTRA™, CHOICE ULTIMATE™, PREMIER™, or LO MÁXIMO™ package. This special offer requires a 2 year agreement. Check out our DIRECTV Promotions to find out more about DIRECTV's best offer ever!

It says new and qualifying customers so unless you are new and qualifying, must be both since it says and, then you can't get Sunday Ticket at no extra charge.

Next year it will be back to pay for NFL and get premier for free like it always has been in the past. This year was just setup this way because of the labor dispute.

Preseason games for the most part aren't televised, but it does look like they are recorded, so I don't know why this is.

But if you go to NFL dot com and click on Video -> Preseason Live you can order all preseason games (on the computer) for $20 right now. Usually it's $40. I'm going to watch on my Xoom and just use an HDMI cable to the TV. Rock!

As for ST, I got $20 off for six months which was good by me until I found out "To Go" wasn't included (I had it free last year as a new customer when I signed up during the NFL promo). Called back and said I didn't realize that wasn't included this year, but a friend said I should check if it was added when I got the discount. She said no, it's $50. I said I really enjoyed the games on my iPad last year (I actually have a Xoom, but she mentioned iPad) and she said she would check to see what she could do. Was on hold for a bit and then she came back and added it for free.

This forum rocks! Sunday Ticket and To Go for $203? I'm happy!

I just talked to a very nice lady at DirecTV and said I'd seen the ads and was wondering what my options were. The very first offer she gave me was free. No credits. Of course I jumped on it, originally I was going to ask about To Go when I was hoping for something like a $200 credit.

Checked my account, and it's already there with the amount of $0.00. She said it was because I was a long time customer, but it's just since 2007.

Excuse me while I go and buy a lotto ticket.

Just got the same deal as dpeters11. First offered half off, asked if he could do any better, and he came back with completely free. Customer since 2007.

Nice! Wonder how long you have to be a subscriber? I signed up last year, so I'm still happy with the deal.

Interestingly enough, they must be doing a lot of these deals. When I spoke with the CSR at the "NFL Department" there was a LOT of noise and cheering in the background. I said it sounds like you folks are having fun and she said people scream "touchdown" every time they get a subscriber to stay on, so they're making a game out of it. Sounded like a lot of fun and I said I guess this works for both of us then! I get to keep my subscription and you get to yell touchdown! :) Just while I was on the phone I heard it maybe six or seven times.

Just for those going to try for this deal -- I did mention I was going to cancel the sub, so I was taken directly to the NFL department. It could be that DirecTV CSRs have more leeway (they can just sign people up for free) than the NFL crew do, so you might want to use "cancel" as a last option if the DirecTV CSR doesn't give you what you want.

But like I said, I'm still happy. Don't mind paying something for the service. It's top-notch. I suffered through Cablevision's worse than SD quality Center Ice picture for many years. To have out of market NFL football in HD is just glorious. I'm very happy to be a DirecTV customer.

No, I decided to go for it and talked to retention. I just couldn't believe that was the first offer I was given.

I called for the second time earlier today. First call resulted in half off offer. Declined. Called back today got 4 payments of 39.99 and a six months of 20 off.
160-120 = 40 Sunday ticket. I'll take that, not the best I've seen but pretty good

Just tried and mentioned that I canceled due to the price last week but have been seeing the ads about free Sunday Ticket. Retention rep said that was for new customers but he would review the account for discounts. I asked about price and he said Early Bird was available, I believe 6 payments for $53.99. He put me on hold for about 5 minutes and came back with I don't see any offers available on your account. What does that mean? Should I try again? Do you think he noted that so if I do call back the next CSR will mention the same thing?

Called again today and got ST & To Go for 4 payments of $39.99. Not a bad deal since I just subscribed to directv in Jan of this year, but befor the ST free promo. I`m happy with the discount I received. Glad I saw this thread. By the way, what channels will the games be on and should I be able to get any of the channels yet?

After striking out twice, once before the lockout ended and once last week, I called a third time this morning and was able to get a deal. They gave me half off ST. It's not $250 off or free like everybody is getting but I'm satisfied with the deal.

Thanks to all that posted their experiences and advice on getting a deal.

    Go Texans!

Should be in the low 700's and no they won't be on yet. You can tune to 116 though and it should say you are authorized.

Got mine for $120, which made me happy since it's the lowest I've paid in years (last year was $180). The people getting it for even less in this thread is shocking!

    Breakdown is:

$20 off per month for 6 months
$10 off my HD for 3 months
$53.99 deducted from this month's bill.
    Threw in to-go for free.

I actually did threaten to cancel, not following the advice from this thread first. The $53.99 deduction was after I said 'sorry, not enough' from the first two things that were offered.

I was more willing to cancel this year than ever, since 5 games are going to be prime time, the 3:00 games are likely to be the premier game in my town, and then I have a sports bar a block away to make up for the rest.

You won't see anything on the channels until game starts. You will see a screen that says you are authorized for this channel, the morning of the game.

I believe the advice to not threaten to cancel is more along the lines of threatening to cancel DirecTV as a whole, not just cancelling Sunday Ticket.

Have they started to take ST off your bill already? If they have then they are not charging me or indicating that they will. When I look on my online account they indicated I'm correctly being billed for MLB Extra Innings but showing no charge for NFL ST.

I saw on my July bill they charged me ~54 bucks for the first installment. I called and cancelled, they reimbursed it immediately.

They do show the pre-game show but my experience from last year was that I could not see the pre-game show on the TO GO PACK though. Not sure if I was supposed to be able to or not. I called on it once and was told no but I dont understand why now.
