Actor Kiefer Sutherland may toil for Fox primetime series 24, but he'll soon be featured in a series of promotion spots for ESPN's launch of Thursday-night National Hockey League coverage.

The new promo campaign – themed, "The NHL. On ESPN. Ice. Men. Sticks. Pucks. Thursdays." -- will break Nov. 22 on all of the ESPN networks. The first NHL Thursday cablecast will be Dec. 5 at 8 p.m.

For the three spots, Sutherland will be shown skating in an empty hockey arena, and he'll also supply the voiceover. The actor is no stranger to ESPN hockey coverage. Last year, he did voiceover teasers for ESPN and ABC's Stanley Cup Finals.

"Kiefer is a huge hockey fan," ESPN vice president of marketing Aaron Taylor said in a prepared statement.
