You must have never had a corporate job. Getting instructions to do something like that without being told (or your manager even knowing himself) what the steps are after that is par for the course.

Oh I most definitely have a corporate job and have sat in meetings like this... People ask questions and everyone at this level knows We aren’t talking about 15 dollar an hour code level people here these are most likely 6 figure software writers that all probably have senior manager or director in there title This type of information with regards to whatever meeting took place would have contained it all. Now these people may be under a strict NDA not to release why this is happening but it sucks for the 100 or so people that chose to download this to help them test and lost a major feature

Yes they are which is why I didn’t download it. Based on there normal release cycle I would say this firmware is about 2-3 months away from gen pop

I remember reading an old post about AT&T wanting everything to have to same look and feel and using the DTV Now interface to do it. I guess with DTV and the new interface its just a similar look to DTV Now and not the same look and feel. What if they are going to replace the DTV Everywhere APP with the DTV Now interface this year and use the cloud DVR instead?

Anyone who is testing software for any company should understand that any functionality or feature can be removed at any time.

Two lines from the rules of the DBSTalk hosted Cutting Edge forum:
"There is a chance that your receiver may stop working. There is a chance that you may lose all of your programming. Understand that there are no guarantees of anything."
"Make sure folks who use this receiver understand that everything could be lost. Downloading a cutting edge version could lead to unsatisfactory results."

The disclaimers for customers not involved in testing are similar. AT&T|DIRECTV's customer agreement allows them to discontinue any feature or channel at any time. Sorry!

Everyone gets that James. However, implicit in that is to not crap on the people who are trying to help you better your software. Something that seems to be constant with that program...which (along with the air of condensension and arrogance starting with the taking of the email database from this site) is why I quit participating.

I believe people forget the risks involved in testing ... as well as the overall customer agreement. With no disrespect to any company's program. People need to have the right expectations.

Come on. You can’t be serious. If the decided in next weeks CE to remove DVR functionality or Live Tv are you just going to sit there and take it? Your not going to question and ask why???

This isn’t a risk. A risk is losing your recordings or your box getting bricked. Not permanently removing a large part of the software

I would ask in the appropriate place. Public rebuke should be reserved for national releases.

Perhaps this is a preview of what will come in a future national release. Perhaps the removal is due to a conflict with something else being planned. What is worse? Losing all of your recordings, bricking your receiver or having a feature removed? If one accepts the risk of bricking or losing all content one accepts the risk of losing a feature.

Your right. And as I have stated about 45 times now if they told us it would be restored at some point in the future we wouldn’t be having this conversation. I am testing the software. Voluntary or not I am allowed to ask why it is being removed.

This is not the appropriate place to ask. Those who know certainly will not be answering you here.

I hope you enjoy your experience with DISH.

Oh I know it isn’t. I have asked in the appropriate place. I have received several PM’s on both sites thanking me for calling certain people out there and here because they know who they are and are on both forums

Haven’t done that yet. Plan to try it later today after I figure out why my iRobot Smart Mapping has become dumb

Finally transferred some content. Pretty smooth. No real issues. Transfer speed was about the same as when I transferred from my HS17

This is Carl, and I would like to make a couple of comments. First, contrary to what was quoted above, I have absolutely no ownership interest in that website, I work 100% as a volunteer. I enforce, but do not set, policy. Second, I do have direct, regular, contact with a very few representatives of the software engineering group. Nobody who is not part of those correspondences is in any position to make any comment regarding the relationship with DirecTV, what information we can obtain, etc. This has absolutely nothing to do with "going to bat for the testers", or "having a pair", or any other such thing. I regret some people feel differently. I do honestly hope compnurd is fully satisfied with Dish Network, and that it meets his needs, regardless of what prompted him to make the decision to change.

I thought it was you deleting my posts over here

It absolutely has everything to do with going to bat for testers. If you don’t see that then you need to move on
