From Fox News:
A true legend in her field!
Thank You Ms. Page for sharing your talents with all of us. Rest in Peace.
"How much is that doggie in the window?"
WOW - the legends continue to leave us.
Patti Page started her pro career in the Tulsa area, singing for Page dairies on radio there. That's where she got her pro name.
In the late forties/early fifties, she was known as "the singing rage", and remained popular for decades.
"Doggie In The Window" was the #1 song in the country on the day of my birth.
I had the 45 as a kid. I'm sure my parents had no idea of this connection when they gave it to me. They just thought of it as a song a child would like. They were right. I played it to death. It was only years later that I found out it was a hit when I was born.
In a very real and personal way, part of me just died, too.
RIP, Patti Page.
I remember the night and the Tennessee Waltz
And I knew just how much I had lost
I have lost my little darlin'
The night they were playing
The beautiful beautiful Tennessee Waltz
