Thanks Directv for the great Extra Innings package. I love how you turn the game off right before the game winning walk off home run is hit. The channel (737, and 737-1) was scheduled to run for 6 hours (2p-8p), but due to rain in St. Louis, there were 2 rain delays totalling 2 1/2 hours. You would think some one in control would notice, hey, maybe we should extend the channel. But no go, we were just treated to the D* right at 8 o'clock. At least show Heidi next time instead of the D* logo.

I'm not a Cards fan, but my mother is and I recorded the game for her. When I learned shortly before 6pm MT that the game was still going on, I extended the recording a half hour and tuned to the game to check out the end of it. Right a 6, the game cut off and the recording stopped. Went to another game and brought up ScoreGuide to see how the game wound up... ugh...

It was bad enough that you couldn't get the Cardinals feed of the game. The Game was only available on COX 4 from San Diego. The way that that game was cut off immediately at 8 p.m. Eastern Time tells me that DirecTv has these games on some sort of automatic timer to be "Shut Off" because we could not see the end of the game and ESPN's Coverage of a Rain Delayed Sunday Night Baseball Game between the Phillies and Braves has not even started yet. They need someone to actually be at the controls watching these games until they end instead of having them on a timer to shut off like i think that they do.

I one saw a game 666-1 running late goto the D* screen and flip to 666 still flip back to 666-1 back on.

The 7** feed are just remaps so maybe they forgot to redo the remap.

The problem is that COX4 is only going to show up on the 700's

Doesn't ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball exclusive coverage window start at 8pm? Perhaps another middle finger to the MLBEI customers by MLB and their programming contracts.

This is not a DirecTV problem. It's an MLB problem. They are just trying to protect their rights holders. That is why ESPN paid big $$$ for exclusive rights to Sunday night.

Game had already started, so exclusive window would not apply.

Yes this was a DirecTv error, the games are scheduled in 'windows' this one being 6 hours, at the end of the window the slide automatically comes up on the channel. There is no way to change the timer on the window, but someone monitoring the game can re-route the game feed to the encoder at the end of the window to keep it on the air. Probably not enough staff on duty on a Sunday to monitor each game. The ESPN exclusive doesn't apply once a game has started or if it has a delay.

Already called and complained, basically Directv's answer was thank you for your interest in Directv.

MY wife is a big Cardinals fan and she was extremely ticked off. It was not a good night in our house. She is still unhappy.

This was not Directv's equivalent of the Heidi bowl, but it was darn close.

This has been going on for years, and isn't limited to the baseball package. How many times do I have to call before they figure it out?!

I've found out that calling and complaining to DirecTv about games being unavailable or blacked out or being taken off do absolutely no freakin' good. I have always gotten the run around from DirecTv telling me to try another channel or look around on the guide. The only broadcast that was available on MLB Extra Innings was the San Diego game and that game would not have been available on any other channel UNLESS I lived in St. Louis' Market to receive the KSDK Newschannel 5 broadcast in St. Louis. It was a no win situation for MLB Extra innings subscribers because the game was taken off the air before it was over. This is what MLB Fans have to keep putting up with. I think next year I will cancel my MLB Extra Innings package and purchase XM Satellite radio to listen to the games. I might as well because the games I want to see at critical points in the season always seem to be blacked out on my television anyhow. MLB seriously needs to end blackouts and stop granting exclusive broadcasting contracts to ESPN and FOX. It's a bad practice that needs to end in this day in time.
