So true. Riding our bikes wherever we wanted without the fear of being hurt and without a helmet. Drinking out of the garden house. Eating whatever we wanted. The list goes on and on.

    Yeah times have changed.

And we didn't have locks on our bikes either. Usually our parked car was unlocked. I walked, rode my bike, or took the trolley car to school every day -- 1 1/4 miles.

The entire family skinny dipping in the farm pond after a long hot July day weeding vegetables in the fields. And no one saw anything wrong with it...

Imagine that today. You'd be on the sex offender list. What have we done?

As the youngest at the time, I probably wouldn't have made the list, but yeah, you're right...

Making kites out of paper bags. Using a bushel basket for a basketball hoop (bottom of bushel basket was knocked out and the basket nailed on a utility pole). Building tree houses. Making a scooter using a 2x4, orange crate and your sister's roller skates. Erector Sets. Gilbert Chemistry Sets.

One day on our ship we were bored and opened the ballistic computer's side panels. Just to see what the insides looked like. Huge analog computer. If you liked Tinker Toys you would have been thrilled with what we saw. The guts of that monster were filled with metal components that looked for all the world like Tinker Toys. Had to be some connection.

Playing in the little creek a quarter-mile from my house, trying to dam it up with mud, sticks and stones, then the next day finding the dam had been breached by the inexorable onslaught of a trickle of water.

As a widdle one, me and some friends was playing on some box cars near us and holding on to the break wheel like we're driving the thing. Little did we know turning it released the brakes and they car slowly started rolling. It went down the tracks for about a kilometre.
