Ditto, although the download must have been a fast one. didn't even notice a normal now downloading new software screen.

    I haven't seen a HR21 & was wondering if they had 2 ethernet ports like the HR23?
Why does it have 2 ethernet ports anyway?
I'm at work until 7AM tomorrow, I guess I'll see if the fedX guy let it on my porch or I have to wait until 6PM tomorrow!

Yes the HR21's have two ethernet connections.

You can connect an ethernet cable to the bottom jack and connect it to another device. Than both units will be connected to the router and internet.

OK That's a great idea, since I have a PS3 & a Denon receiver that are hooked up to ethernet also I can get rid of the cable going from my router to the Denon & hook it up to the HR23.

The HR21 also has 2 ports. The second one is a pass through switch. You can connect any network enabled device to the 2nd port if you don't have enough connections in the HR21's location. I suspect the HR23 works the same.

I'll connect an HR20 to the pass through when I set this up.

Just got an email from the wife:

"Your toy is here. They delivered it about 15 min ago."

Woohoo! Cough Cough.... yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm coming down with something. :D

I am not certain of a download, I did not see it. I only am reporting what the INFO indicates. :)

The history area does not report a download so who knows.

    Cheers,
    Tom

    1) I bet Direct TV needs to activate the box for DOD. I remember we needed DTV activation when VOD was first enabled.

Until I get a second coax ran to the bedroom, I only have one for now. Anyone know which input I should plug it into (1 or 2) for single-tuner use until then?

My unit shows On demand on the menu. I did have to test the network connection as it did not show connection to the Internet initially on the INFO screen. (Alas, I don't know if the On Demand item was there before I tested.)

    Cheers,
    Tom

    Update to my earlier post:

Media Share is functional. Music and Photos are working perfectly. Video would be I guess, but I only have WMV format files which Media Share does not recogmize.

Still no DOD, though Guide is building, Channel 1000 is there but that is all and none of the listings in CH1000 will play.

PC playback does not see the unit.

This unit does not have the right software for PC playback yet.

My parent's HR21 has an On Demand entry in the menu and they're not networked. It only goes to an info screen about the benefits of On Demand. So I expect the menu item to be there whether functional or not.

Yeah, mine doesn't have the info yet. It might take a day for the on demand info to be received by the unit.

My wife called and said the FedEx man just pulled up as she was leaving the house. She did have to sign for it. Can't wait to get home and play with it.

It has been confirmed .. DO NOT force an update until you are told to do so. Doing so will render your receiver inoperable.

I just spoke with Mrs. Vinny and my new toy has arrived. I will begin setup later tonight. I do feel like I caught say-what's cold and will be home tomorrow to set up my series links, etc.

    Let the testing begin!

    Vinny
