I see HBO is airing the first season of The Knick before the premier of the second season. Does anyone know if HBO is going to air the second season as well?

No, first-run episodes will still air on Cinemax but HBO seems committed to giving the show exposure on HBO. They've aired several episodes on HBO at one point or another and have occasionally made episodes of the Knick available on HBOGO. I don't really blame them since The Knick is probably the third best original series they have at the moment. This is especially true after their disastrous summer and the fact that The Leftovers season 2 premiere only attracted 50% of the viewership that watched the season 1 finale. They're probably going to struggle until Game Of Thrones' comes back in April and desperately need Westworld to be a huge hit.

Okay, so maybe I should know this, but does HBO own Cinemax? Or are they otherwise collaborating with the Knick?

Yes HBO (a subsidiary of Time Warner actually) has always owned Cinemax.

I think season 2 currently airing on Cinemax. All (previous and current) eps should be available OD (with Cinemax subscription, of course).

referring to True Detective 2 probably...

which leads me to ask, was it really that bad? I know people were disappointed but taken on it's own is it something you actually regret wasting your time watching?

I may be the only person in America who enjoyed season 2, especially Vince Vaughan's performance.

I'll probably catch up with Knick OD at a later time. Only saw the first ep and looked like it's pretty good. (Cinemax has been blasting the entire first season several eps at a time this week.) I've just got too dang much TV to watch, first. That + MLB post season pretty much killing the watching of other shows, at least for now.

As far as True Detective, after reading about it in the TV Show Talk forum, I think I'll start with season 2 first.
