That's September 2009, not September 9th. However, unlike the other months mentioned, September 9th does fall on a Wednesday this year, so there is a 1 in 5 chance that they might show up on September 9th!
My local NBC is Jackson, Miss. due to Directv not having an agreement with my actual local NBC out of Lake Charles (I'm in the Lafayette, LA market). When they go HD LiL, would I get that? Because right now it's clearly impossible to get that channel in HD OTA
North and South Alabama have locals via D*. What's wrong with the Capital area?
since D* is adding Charleston/Huntington, WV HD lets hope they include WSAZ's sub-channel MyZtv
Good Question, I live in South Alabama and was happy when they added locals when they did. It could be many things such as D* installed base, size of market, competition from E*, agreements with local stations(they won't launch a city unless they have 2 major networks), room on a spot beam.
Glad for those of you in the Charleston/Huntington DMA getting your locals. We probably willn't get the Parkersburg locals added till D-100 goes up.
Here in Parkersburg we should be able to get the Charleston/Huntington DMA as Neighboring Channels. We don't have a ABC or CBS local station and WOWK and WCHS are significantly viewed in this area.
I would not bet money on it.
My hope is that they take the feed from WSAZ via a fiber link and not OTA thereby giving us back full resolution HD. I would not bet money on that either.
Would Love to have Encore Channels in HD
Since we are the 118th DMA, it's not the size of the market (DMA's below us have locals from D*). There may be a problem getting agreements from the local broadcaster's but E* did it. Maybe the televison station's want more money than D* is willing to part with. Maybe E* agreed to something D* will not. Who knows. I didn't really care until WSFA moved their digital signal from UHF to VHF (14 to 12). Since my outside antenna is UHF only I no longer can get 12 OTA and I don't plan to go the the trouble and expense of getting a new antenna or combining antennas. Oh well, their is always PlayOn that I can use to stream HULU to my TV (and get "Chuck").
Well the News Release said "late this Summer", but there is always that "subject to change" statement that seems to get in the way all the time :raspberry Charleston-Huntington, WV is now listed as Sept. 2009. Sept. isn't Summer, but at least Charleston-Huntington, WV has finally been listed :hurah:
Technically, until September 22 it is still summer. But hopefully they will be up before football season.
I'm wishing for Rochester, MN HD locals. Most of the time my OTA antenna does fine but sometimes it would be better to have the channels via satellite.
My OTA works fine 99% of the time as well. I am hoping that when we get turned on in September, that we get the latest and greatest encoders and have no issues with the Brrrriiiiipppp!
Does anyone know a date for local Lynchburg-Roanoke, VA HD this month? Or what dates or day of the week they usually make this happen?
I've gotten a few tidbits from the regional thread on AVS. One user stated that testing had already begun and one of the engineers from WDBJ stated that it would happen at the end of the month.
Thanks Tick (or Mr. Tick).
About Lynchburg-Roanoke, VA HD this month, I had my dish move two weeks ago so the signal did not have to look at an apple tree. The service guy just said July.
I wish you luck but I've learned from experiance most are either mistaken or just making it up. When I first got my HD upgrade in April of 2007 I think the guy said Richmond HD would be up by the end of that month. He was only a year and some change off
I've heard Lynchburg mentioned more than once over the last year and a half. So far, no good. I'll believe it when I see it. But since Dish is showing them in HD, I guess a little fire has been lit under them!
