Well, I am going to end up being a Dish customer as well as a Directv customer because I have to have Dish because of the Kingdome on top of the RV I am buying. To get HD MPEG-4 Channels from Directv I would have to buy a $3,000 Motosat and I don't want to do that if I can avoid it. Also, it doesn't work in motion like the Kingdome does so I may have to have both systems, I just don't know at this time what direction I will take.

Being able to afford all of that if needed is a good problem to have in my book.

Let's get back to topic, please.

Also a reminder that this thread will be replaced by the Q1 2010 thread on January 1.

    Counting the minutes...

Suspect its safe to say that the probability of new HD Channels in 2009 is somewhere in the vicinity of 0.

I don't see how it makes a difference what quarter its from. the same people are going to say they want they same channels and then make the same predictions about when D12 will be ready and what it'll be used for as well as the same old threats to switch providers.

You could do that, but then we would have ten new threads talking about this thread and ten more about the lack of Travel HD.

I am just wondering if I am still subscribed to the old locked HD thread. Maybe I can wake up to a good news email in the new year.

One of the wonderful blessings is a very large part of the family is here, within a few miles.

The next large part is all within Wisconsin, with a couple nearby in Indiana. So basically I just travel to Wisconsin every so often to see most everyone else. :)

Then there is the sister in Paris. Thankfully I'll get to see her in Phoenix right after Christmas. :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

God Bless You and Your Large Family but I just don't want to pick up the tab for Dinner!!!

My father had 6 sisters and 6 brothers so we had a large family reunion every year.

What's the use of being Ritchie Rich if you can't pick up the tab for dinner? :)

Thankfully, when we have 30 for thanksgiving, most of the families bring parts of the dinner. :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

Not many, I'm guessing. They went with Dish for a reason, I have a hunch that HD channels wasn't one of them.

So, I'm getting excited about December 29th, and I know I probably will be waiting until middle of 1Q 2010 before we see any new additions, but Is this a good list showing ALL of the currently (12/14/09) available HD channels out there?

Sleuth isn't in HD yet (#33 on the big list) but both Sleuth and Chiller in HD were delayed by NBC/Universal, owner of the two channels. There's an outside chance these might launch nationally in the spring or later in 2010.

My gut tells me D* is waiting to launch a bunch of new HD all at once, either after the football season is over or when D12 is fully operational. They can leapfrog Dish and run some fresh TV ads promoting themselves to be the HD leader again.

We may see MSNBC HD and maybe Universal sports HD / universal sports olympic hd in time for the 2010 games and ESPNU has been said many times for start of 2010.
